I've been bouncing around this site for almost a week, asking questions, getting great education, connecting with a few folks regarding buying my first pen(s), and generally being a nuisance. So it makes sense that I make a pitstop into this howdy forum to say Hey & introduce myself. Do not do so at this point just seems rude, and it's the least I can do. And anyone who knows me will vouch that I am absolutely willing to do the least I can do...

I'm middle aged according to the actuarial charts, and live in beautiful Seattle with my patient, smart and extremely funny honey DeDe, who incidentally is the one brutally stopping me from spending my paychecks on writing tools. Some of my hobbies are cooking and baking, building tabletop water fountaiins and terrariums with water features (waterfalls, ponds & rivers, etc), writing poetry and maintaining a blog at www.seattlewords.blogspot.com. Come by and take a peek if you'd like. Just be kind.

I have long loved pens and writing, but my only experience til now with fountain pens are those BICS or whatever they were - those disposable plastic fountain pens that had the cartridges that left big blue inkblobs on the page & then leak into your pocket. It's funny; for years I've seen old fountain pens at antique malls, thrift stores & the likes, and they'd be marbled resin or whatever & I'd think - ha, plastic, what a cheap pen! I'd walk away thinking I knew something. Chances are I've walked away from some beauties. Now I look at resin fountain pens in a whole way. We change as grownups sometimes, eh?

Anyhow that's me. I'm glad to be here, to be learning and getting to know new folks. I've arranged to get my first new/old pen from a member here, an Esterbrook 2556 "J" in a really amazing blue, and as my birthday is next week my honey DeDe is taking me to World Lux Pens here in Seattle and choosing either an le Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} span.title {mso-style-name:title;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> Aurora Talentum Finesse, Namiki Falcon or Faber Castell Ambition Pearwood (or black) as my first brand new pen. She is AWESOME.

Take care & if you need something from me all you have to do is ask,

Welcome aboard! Check out the Seattle Pen Club. Usually meets third Saturdays at Third Place Commons in Lake City, but I believe the October meeting will be in Bellingham. There are quite a few of us up here!
