I just bought an Edison Herald in Red/Black Ebonite. Attached is a picture from the website (Brian you take gorgeous pics!). What ink do you think would be good with it?
OboeJuan
PR Black Cherry. Seriously good looking pen!

That is one seriously beautiful pen and the first non-hooded to actually make me drool! How does it write? Please, please tell us!
Oh, and I think it should be inked with Noodlers red-black for the first time. It would suit the ebonite colour perfectly.

I have no idea, but I ordered the pen with an 18k Bexley nib. Brian tunes the nibs before he sends the pen, so I am sure it will write like a dream. AND its an eyedropper smile.gif

How does Red-Black write? Would it be ok for school?

If you are going to be using the pen for school, it would probably be best to ask your teacher or professor if he has any ink color preferences. He may only want work that is written in blue or black ink.

Or just use any ink you want and then say you are colourblind.. ;-)

Seriously, having graded thousands of papers as a grad student, it is not
the color as much as the handwriting. (The exception is pink and yellow.
NEVER APPROPRIATE).

What a gorgeous pen. What do I have to do to get put in your will? wink.gif Seriously, I've gotten to really like Private Reserve "Plum" and "Burgundy Wine" lately. They are both beautiful deep-red colors and look great on paper. I suspect that you're going to have a great time writing with the pen no matter what color ink you decide on using.

Take care,
Ron

Well this pen will only stay home, so it will be writing my homework. Most of my teachers are pretty lenient with ink colors. Does the red/black look more red or black?

anyone else?

I second the motion for Noodler's Red/Black - it would go great with your new pen. I have found that the color of this ink depends alot on the pen. In wet-writing pens it is much darker; in drier-writing pens the black is not nearly as prominent. It can, at times, even appear like a reddish-brown ink. I really like the properties of this ink - good flow, little to no feathering, good drying time, minimal nib creep, and the color is unique.

Just my $.02.

Greg~

PR Fiesta Red would also complement the color of the pen.

As with wines, one can also contrast rather than match so you may find joy in something startling. One of the turquise inks might do.

I am just going to have to save up for an Edison! puddle.gif

I'll also vote for the PR Black Cherry. Sweet pen. Which site was it from?

Hmm, I'll have to get that one too. After my blacks, blues, greens (striated), reds and ivory, this finish/colour seems to be missing.

I don't care much for Red-Black, don't know why, maybe I need a different pen. Do like a blackish purple and usually make one from Waterman Purple and a drop of Waterman Blue-Black or Black. A recent mix of Iraqi Indigo/VV and a drop of Zhivago made a mix someone called Eggplant, very attractive. I consider both of these mixes to be serious colors or as some call, manly purples.

I think the Black-Cherry would be the closest straight from the bottle.

Nice pen.
