Everything in the box is in Japanese, but who cares?

(Cell phone camera, sorry, that's the best I can do right now.)

For those who were worried that the blue spinel on the cap would look tacky or cheap, it's not a problem. It's very discreet. The whole effect of the pen is very elegant.

I had been wanting one of the "long cap" pens and wondered what they would be like. The balance on this pen is very good. It feels "right" to my hand, substantial and easy to write with. I have loaded the supplied cartridge into it -- the pen started almost immediately, and the M nib is actually a little broader than I expected (Japanese M usually writes more like a Western F). I think this pen could become a daily user.

An additional observation: Some posters expressed concern/disdain about the "ring" or "band" on the barrel of the M90. This is a clutch ring. It is not visible when the pen is capped or when the cap is posted, and it does not in any way interfere with the user or with the aesthetics of the pen.

It looks to me like the designer decided to do this in order to allow the cap to be posted securely without scratching the barrel. This makes perfect sense to me. I have never seen the original pen of which this is a re-issue, so I don't know how this was done in the prior version.

Excellent--glad to hear of another thrilled M90 customer. Enjoy the pen, Bill. biggrin.gif

Very good news! Looks great. I'm still trying to locate one in Japan where I live. I'm sure it would be really easy in Tokyo, but the Hiroshima prefecture is another story. I'm going to the next prefecture on Saturday, I might be lucky there.

Thanks for the remarks on the clutch ring. Some photos make it look very prominent but it sounds quite functional and discreet in terms of the writing experience.

All of my pocket pens have great balance. I wonder if that would make the steel pen comfortable for someone who prefers a light weight pen...

Enjoy your new mate!

Yay! I hope my invoice comes soon... my M90 will look so pretty with its MYU 701 siblings!

Mine just came!! It's a beauty and smaller than I thought wub.gif For some reason the photos made it look bigger. I wondered about what the number (808) engraved under F was but it must be the nib code for August 2008.

Great!

How is the F nib? Is it wider than you expected, or about like other Japanese F nibs?
Taki
I'd say it's about the same as my VP F, maybe a tad broader. Broader than Prera F. As expected it is stiff, but it's very smooth! I wanted to use BSB but chickened out...using Namiki/Pilot blue cartridge right now.

EDIT: Well after using it a day, I would say the width is about the same as my VP F, not broader.
