If you had to choose which pen from MB is the best all around every day user what would it be ?
Well I must admit for me the answer is easy.
I think the 146 is the best all around user.
I love the 149 and think it really is a great classic and an amazing user too but the slightly smaller size of the 146 with its simple and classic cigar shape design, balance make it simply to be one of the best and easiest pens to be used for most people.
There are lots of LE pens MB makes and some are as good as a 146 but for me a pen to be used must be a pen I feel comfy enough to use and not to worry to much if something happeneds to it.Since the 146 isnt an LE pen then it wouldnt break my heart as much as loosing a LE pen which is also an important factor for me and I think about when I decide which pen to use.

Used the 149 as my only daily writer for several years, and for me it still is "THE PEN".
Only drawbacks:
- it is too big to keep it in the shirt pocket (but I'm supposed to wear a suit most of the year anyway, being a salesman).
- for some kind of "on-the-fly" writing, uncapping it (or any other FP) takes too much time and can also be dangerous for the nib, so for these occasions I use something cheaper or a Pilot Capless.
I keep myself far away from LE pens of any brand (a pen is a wonderful tool, not a fetish).
The only kind of LE I could really understand/appreciate would be a pen made by myself (quantity = 1)...

I even prefer the Chopin (that's 145, I think).
When I got my first MB I wanted to take the 149, but I found it too big for me, so I felt much more comfortable with the Chopin.
Also I tend to write more readable and neatly with the 145 than with the 146s. Don't know if that is an effect of the size or the nib or both.
I still don't have a 149.

I have new 146. A perfect writing pen. I use the 146 every day realy quality.
In the shop where I did buy the 149 I tried also all other FP in the same price range.
Always coming back to the MB 146. Some where better but the price was 3 times the 146.
Only the 149 was the same or better, but also big. At that moment and the price of 100 euro's more I choose the 146.
On Ebay I did get a 149 for a good price. My 149 is on his way (second hand) and I hope that it writes the same as the 149 or even better. (each FP is different).
I hope I can use the 149 also on a daily base.

I try to rotate as much as possible, but I use my 146 fp and my WE Poe ballpoint the most. I've also been using my WE Fitzgerald fp frequently, but I get a little nervous when it leaves the house.

If you have large hands or getting on a bit, the 149 is perfect if you want somrthing smaller a 146. I dont think that LE's are the thing for everyday use, that means its prone to being lost and then replacement can be rather expensive, sometimes impossible. I have used my 149 for the last 12 years on a daily basis. But the choice is yours.

For my work a bp is more practical. I prefer the Faulkner for its looks and feel.

The Fitzgerald writer's edition is one of the most comfortable pens I have ever experienced. I think it is nearly as wide as the 149, but shorter.
Also, I have to say that I find the Bohemes surprisingly comfortable and convenient to use, despite the small size and retractable nibs.

Well, due to the sales figures of Montblanc, the #164 Classique ballpoint is the most used Montblanc pen.
But if you look only on fountain pens it is the #146 LeGrand.

My current #1 is a Chopin with fine nib, but I could be tempted by a 146, although I'm not sure if I could get used to the whole bottled ink thing! I know...I'm a pleb who uses cartridges!
Maybe a 147 Traveller is an option

I don't have/use many MB's, but I have a 642-G with a fantastic OB nib that writes like a dream. It is small enough to carry easily, and is not too flashy to use regularly at work.
If I could only keep 1 MB, this would be it. If I had to pare my collection down to 10 pens, this would be one of them.

My Meisterstuck no. 12 is my MB daily user. It is small and very handy and has a very smooth flexy M nib. I like my MB 149 but I am running from room to room seeing patients all day and need something that can be used rapidly and efficiently. My MB 149 is used for journal entries when I can take my time and enjoy it!

I completely agree! Well, almost. I'd vote for the 344, a size up from the 342.
Mine has an OM nib that can, will and does beat out any modern MB nib. By lightyears, even.

Once I get it repaired,my latest sumgai find--a 236PL--will go into my pen rotation. I should say that it is my 1st MB
and that I will only collect MB's from the 1930's-50's(I'm not crazy about "precious resin/fantastic plastic").

Tough call between my abused, dinged and severly scratched, but trusty OM 146 and a B/BB nibbed early 60s 149.
For overall use, I'd go with a 146.
