I'm Barrett from Stallings, NC and I'm ever so glad to be here!

I must first admit to having a checkered past with fountain pens. The first one I ever bought, as a lad of about 11, was an office supply store-bought disposable. Of course, the darned thing was so cheap, was it really any wonder that it leaked profusely in my desk and soiled all of my papers?! Not that there was much of importance in there, but, well, I digress...

I've since discovered the Pilot Varsity, fallen in love with it, and re-embarked on my journey to find the most pleasant and aesthetically pleasing writing implements out there. And of course, I was thrilled to find this network of folks who are on the same journey!

Hi,

Welcome to the forums Pilots are nice pens, but I am sure once you have hung out here for a while you will broaden your horizons and experiment.

Hope you enjoy your time here and any pens you will eventually buy as a result of reading about them.

Hi and welcome to the crew!
Hmm... -- sorry, but that's not unusual here -- you start off with a FP in school, you then forget about the issue for X, Y, Z years, then re-discover again what you've been missing all those years...
No problem. you'll get over it. But your wallet might not.

I'm a good ways away from the Triangle area. But I might just have to make my way over there and pop in anyway! Thanks for the recommendation!

Hi, welcome... Im using Pilot varsity too. I like the Varsity's blue colour ink. I recommend you to try out the Pilot Knight, Pilot 78g or Pilot Prera too. These are the most value for money Pilot fountain pen available in the market now.

Hello Barret, and welcome to the asylum, er, club.

I can relate to your story somewhat as I, also, got started using inexpensive fountain pens at a young age; in my case Scheaffer "school pens" that came on a little pasteboard card, usually with five ink cartridges. They were good serviceable pens that cost a dollar back in the mid-to-late 1960s and I wrote tens of thousands of words with them. These days I'm also embarked on that search for the "perfect pen", which I can't exactly describe, but will recognize when I find it. The closet I've come at this time is a Sailor 1911 Demonstrator with a fine point. A wonderful pen, but the fact that I sometimes put it into storage tells me that it's not quite perfect. So the search continues. I just hate having to continue to buy and try fountain pens. wink.gif

Take care,
Ron
