We have not posted any updates lately as there have been few pens of note for sale. This auction concluded this weekend.

This is not your average prewar Pilot as it is a lever filler and has what might be an incredible flexi FALCON nib. Prewar Pilot FALCON nibs are assuming almost legendary status and are increasingly difficult to find. This pen was made for the primo department store Mitsukoshi and this name is impressed on the barrel. It measures 13.2cm, capped. Not a bad size. The only flaw appears to be a tiny piece of black urushi missing from the clip and this might be easily repaired.

Pen purchased for Y19100 through shoppingmalljapan. Total cost to buyer might be about $210. Lucky FPNer? I might note that during the last LA Show there was very strong interest in Japanese pens with smooth super flexible nibs. We sold several at surprisingly good prices. All of my experiences with this seller have been very positive so, I assume, someone got a real keeper.

That's a gorgeous pen. Visually, it looks much more modern than something pre-war, at least to me. It definately explains that funky clip on my 823- I hadn't realized there was a historical tie between old and new with it.

I wonder how this flacon compares with the new falcon. Seems to me like there might be a difference in terms of flexiness.

Most of the FALCON nibs by Pilot that we have sold have been extremely flexible and smooth. I cannot compare them to a modern nib and suspect the older nibs exhibited far more flex. A better modern comparison migt be the Nakaya flexible nib. From what we've seen they might come closest.
