Full Version: How many pages/sheets in a Moleskine / Volant?

Hi Everyone,

Ok, I can't believe I'm asking this question. embarrassed_smile.gif

Will somebody more learned than I please clue me in as to what this description means specifically?

From Moleskine.com:

SET 2 RULED VOLANT NOTEBOOK
Extra Small: 56 ruled detachable pages
Pocket: 80 ruled pages, last 16 sheets detachable
Large: 96 ruled pages, last 16 sheets detachable

(Is it the last 16 pages or the last 8 pages, one sheet being one side?)
(Also for the Volants, they come in sets of 2; does the above page amount refer to just one of the set of two or is that the TOTAL number of pages you get per set?)

From Dictionary.com for the word 'page':

1. one side of a leaf of something printed or written, as a book, manuscript, or letter.
2. the entire leaf of such a printed or written thing: He tore out one of the pages.

Which definition is applicable to Moleskines?

A question that has been bothering me for some time, which I have finally asked. Whew, I feel better.

For the volant large:
96 pages as in a book, numbering the paper front, back, front, back..., i. e., it's the first of your definition.

16 sheets are perforated, i. e. you can detach pages 65 to 96. (So this is the second of your definitions.)

I think the way Moleskine applies the words "page" and "sheet" is standard.

Oops, I forgot: This applies to each of the two notebooks.

Thanks! I really appreciate the info.

Well, my extra small Moleskine looks like this:
Between, but not inclusive of, the inside front cover and inside back cover, I count 29 sheets.
Achtung: neither the very first sheet just after the inside front cover nor the very last sheet just before the inside back cover is detachable without much force.
Thus [(29 x 2) - (2 x 2)] = 54 detachable pages, where 1 (one) page = 1 (one) side of 1 (one) sheet.
"54 pages" is what the company describes -- along with the dimensions in cm -- on a separate, smaller sheet, outside of (as a wrap around) the pack of 2 (two) notebooks.

(I don't know if this is very interesting, but the German word for "page" = the German word for "side".)

Excellent, so their description applies to each notebook. thumbup.gif

Having been exposed to advertising at its finest (there is a joke there somewhere) I wanted to double check before ordering online and finding the description was for the total set, which would mean half the paper I was expecting! headsmack.gif

Now I can order some.

Thanks to all!
