So I just won this on eBay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...N:IT&ih=017. I hope that it writes well, we shall see soon enough!

Is that Ceder?
J English Smith
This is not Cedar Blue, rather Teal Blue. Cedar Blue was only produced with Vacumatics.

I bid on this one too, congratulations! That's a pretty decent price, too!

I felt like it was good, I was hopping I didnt get a bad deal!

Wow! And the original box, too. Lucky. Congratulations and welcome to the '51' club.

Excellent find! Not a bad price either. You're gonna love it. I have this color. It's an awesome color.

Is it likely that this pen will work when I get it? I am assuming it will need restoration.
Shangas
What you have is a Parker '51' aerometric version. There is a higher chance of it being usable "off the bat", but check it for damage and clean it just in case. Otherwise, you should just give it a flush with water and refill with ink and off you go.

The seller said it was the 51 special, which is the version with a steel nib. My first 51 was a Teal Special - best steel nib I've used.

Edit - you can see it engraved on the filler in one of the photos.

It writes beautifully, its a medium and smooth. The hood has some plastic shrinkage, but not enough that I would worry about.
Wolverine1
Well, you can always replace the hood- there are enough parts floating around.

Wow, I just got my first 51 EXACTLY like that a few days ago! It didn't come with the box and directions though. It's a great writer!
