While in Hong Kong, I stopped by the Feng Yuan Pens store and discovered this pen, just sitting in the window:

For $180 USD, I decided it would be the perfect pen to commemorate my first trip to Hong Kong smile.gif Now I just need to buy a fine or maybe an italic nib, since it came with the Medium Rh.

Since it can be a little difficult finding some of these shops, I've put their specific locations on the Google map page that I created for the trip.

Vy nice pen... I wish can get one also.. puddle.gif You didn't get some chinese pen also?

I did get a couple of Hero pens, but like I figured, the quality isn't exceptional. I don't think they'll last very long if use them as daily pens, so I figured I'd pick up a "special" pen that'll last ... thus the LE VP.

Hey, another pen shop I can visit next time I go back! Nice purchase too! I usually go to Wynners pens over in Central, I don't know why I forget about the ones in Star House.

By the way, a little off topic, but if you plan on returning you should check out the tailors in Shenzhen.

That's more than a little off topic. roflmho.gif

I am going to visit these shops on Glenn's Pens when I go back in about a month's time, something I shall look forward to this year other than the food. puddle.gif

Haha
I'm only on this board because when I was in Hong Kong last month my girlfriend bought me a Waterman Expert II as a present, though that was from a general stationary shop in Mong Kok. Since then I've bought 3 more of various makes. I'll have to try and put the brakes on this little addiction so that I can afford to go back in January as I've planned. The great thing is that I now have a list of shops to visit, she may not be happy with what she's started biggrin.gif

Nice. I have one too and love it (paid more than you - darn!) and I have a Mottishaw cursive italic inside - GREAT!

I didn't know about Wynners ... I did visit Hop Cheong's in Central, though. The only problem with visiting stores in the Kowloon area (such as Feng Yuan's) is the sheer number of street touts for imitation watches, jewelry and tailors. It drove me crazy the first two days I was there, because I was trying to be polite, but all that gets you is 30 minutes of wasted time as they drag you back to their store because "oh, I don't have any of my cards on me" and then hand you off to the actual vendor who tries to do the hard sale. Central didn't have nearly as many touts as Kowloon.

I thought about hitting Shenzhen, but I already had more on my list to do/see than I had time smile.gif Are the tailors in Shenzhen pretty good? I did end up getting a couple shirts from Ascot Changs, several from Sams, and a bunch from Jantzen, as well as a couple suits from Jantzen, too.

Actually the Hero pens I bought in Shanghai were of a suprisingly good quality. Great purple pen as well.

I didn't buy a special pen on that trip but I plan to get the Parker Asian LE next time from the Parker store on Nanjing rd. Hope the dollar holds out till then!

There was one client in the Feng Yuan Pens store when I went there yesterday. And the boss (Mr. Ng) told me the client brough one purple Pilot capless limited FP at Sep 2008, the number should be 1xx/2008. Then I brought one too (823/2008). No matter the client are you or not, nice to meet you here.

ps my FP is M-nib too.

That was Feng Yuan in Star House ... unfortunately, I believe I purchased the last LE (#845/2008) on Oct 1st. Mr. Ng wasn't in the store that day, it was a very nice lady named Amy who sold me the pen smile.gif

Yes. I am relieved to hear that I didn't miss it, but you had bought the last one. rolleyes.gif Unfortunately for me, there was nothing tempting but Mr. Ng was very nice person to chat with.
