Full Version: Looking for two handmade wooden pens

Hi, my birthday is coming up and I've been promised a handmade (handturned, etc) wooden fountain pen from the woman who loves me. Because she loves me I'm getting her a pen too. So we're looking for two pens that are similar. Here are our preferences:
  • Nib: she'd prefer a fine or medium, gold or rhodium, semi-flexible. I'd prefer a fine, gold or rhodium and semi-flexible nib. Good quality.
  • Filling mechanism: we'd prefer a piston filling mechanism, although anything will do except cartridge unless it has a converter. Filling a pen has its own charm, you know?
  • Trim & Clip: we both prefer stainless steel, rhodium or even black for the trims and clip as opposed to gold tones (we find gold trim gaudy on some things)
  • Size-wise, she'd prefer a more slender barrel & I'm open to pretty much all sizes except for the really fat barrels.
  • Material: wood or bamboo only, we're open to any wood with preference given to Northwest varieties (cedar, purpleheart, cherry, maple...). Her and my pens will be of different woods - can't get too obnoxious with the same/same thing, you know?
Would surely prefer buying two lovingly made pens from the artist who made it, but will of course talk with anyone.

Looking forward to it,

Google Montana Pens.  I looked there the other day. They might have something.  This isn't an endorsement (I have never used one), just a suggestion.

Try http://www.penworksplus.com/. I have purchased a number of pens from Jim Lawrence at Penworks. He does real good work and his selection of woods is superior to any other maker I have come across.

Those are nice woody pens with reasonable prices. Hmmmm, another avenue for future pen purchases.. Thanks for all the info.
