Oh, I'm afraid I bought the Hémisphère pen for far too much Euro's. Online is cheaper, but I wanted to feel the pens first and try some out. You are very fond of Waterman fountainpens I presume?
Today I've written with it again and must say, that I have to get use to the nib. I had a Waterman before with a medium nib I think.
You might have paid a lot but at least you got good warrently now. I'm not too happy with Waterman pens. Got three and two were defective (and 1 very scratchy, but was a cheap pen.) when I got them. Got an exchange on both of them but one is still giving me grief. That's the one I bought on ebay for half price but I've got no-where to go to help me with that pen. It's not possible to send it directly to waterman.
Your nib should be smooth and working well. maybe not as smooth as a medium nib but still smooth. What nibsize do you have? F?
If you draw a circle on paper it should be equally smooth in all directions.

Yesterday it was a 1910 BCHR Onoto with a double broad slight flex nib....very sweet writer.
Today I'm back to my most prised Parker 51 cordovan DJ with its medium stub nib - this pen is always in my rotation.....I really love this pen...
I'm also using a 1920's Sheaffer 3-25 flat top, the orange model which is often mistaken for RHR, it has mint trim with zero wear and a firm fine nib, I use this pen for idea/brain storming quick design sketching....

I have three fountain pens and they are used continually, the selection of which depends on the task in hand.
Pilot Myu 701 with Aurora Black - General scribbling - a ballpoint substitute
Black GF Aerometric Parker 51 with Quink Blue - Good quality handwriting
Red Marble Parker Duofold with Waterman Violet - Marking up / correcting etc. Anything that requires text to be easily identified

Parker 25... that takes me back! I've been looking at these lately on Ebay - fancy having one again after all these years. Great for daily use. Do they write as smoothly as I remember? For a relatively inexpensive pen, I seem to recall that they were buttery smooth (at least mine was)!
My Parker 25 is really nice... I paid £9.50 (USD$18) for it on eBay and consequently is excellent value for money. The nib is smooth and after flushing last night now flows reasonably well... very good but not excellent.

Incidentally, will they take the modern Parker piston converter?
Yep, first thing I did after flushing was install a modern parker slide converter. No problems.

Thanks for your remark. Yes, it's a F nib. And I have to mention, that I'm a lefthanded writer. I'm an overwriter. Maybe, that a M nib was easier to write with, but I just liked those narrow lines more...
I guess your right about the warranty. Which fountain pen do you prefer?

I'm lefthanded too but underwriter. I'll try overwriting see if that makes a difference in smoothness. I don't think so, I've tried overwriting before but it cramps up my hand. Try drawing a circle on paper slowly, like I said. You should feel equal resistance from the nib on the paper in no matter what directing you're drawing. You can smooth the nib a bit more by writing on a brown paper bag. Just make circles and 8 shapes. And check it a lot to see if it's smoother yet. But really that nib should already be reasonably smooth. Not like a broken in M, but smoother than an old fasioned dip pen by far.
I'm fairly new to faintainpens (at least having multiple of them. I used to use just one) but I like the Pelikan Pelikano lefthanded best at the moment. They are made for underwriters though. At least, the ergonomic grip they have is.
OK, I've tried overwriting. With the Pelikano pen the nib is just a tad less smooth. But I can't be sure. With a Parker pen with F nib it makes no difference (this nib is in between F and M in size really.) The Waterman F pen was smoother as an underwriter but I did spend some time with it writing on a paper bag to make it even smoother with my handwriting. And I have to add, there wasn't any ink in the pen. I just cleaned it and let it dry.

i've designated a number of pens as my "daily writers," and rotate them from time to time:
1. a montblanc 146
2. a pelikan M800
3. a parker duofold international
4. a faber-castell e-motion pearwood.
i use the parker most often, but with a new m800 on the way, things could change!

A typically Sheaffer-weighted assortment today.
Sheaffer Admiral, Persian Blue, lever-fill, factory stub - Private Reserve Tanzanite
Esterbrook J, Blue marble, 2442 "Falcon" fine stub - Black Quink
Sheaffer "Jellies" No Nonsense, Orange, converter, fine - Brown Skrip (for editing)
Sheaffer/Levenger Red Sea, converter, medium - Black Quink
Sheaffer Cadet 23, sort-of Fern Green, Touchdown, medium - Black Quink
Platinum Maestro, Black, converter, music - Noodler's Blue-Black
Lamy Safari, Charcoal, cartridge, extra fine - Lamy Black (a permanent office pen)
Sheaffer "23" desk pen, Black, Touchdown, fine/medium - Black Quink
Sheaffer Cartridge Pen, Red/Chrome, Cartridge, fine - Black Skrip
Scripto "Ink Reserve," black and goldtone, lever-fill, medium - Black Quink (a surprisingly nice writer)
Oh, and I'm not really a Quink lover (nothing against it, though). That's the only brand I can order out of my company's office-supplies catalog.
Cheers,

Bunch of new ink (wheeeee), so few new pens in rotation. The trusty Pel 150 has been loaded up with Noodler's Highlands Heather, the Athens, which I normally do not use, has a fill of R&K Alt Goldgrun, and the Legacy II has been given a good drink of R&K Alt Bordeaux.

I used to rotate regularly but last few weeks I've had the following in the pocket and one back up.
the very beautiful Parker 51 Israel LE in sterling silver by Ariel Kullock with f-m and conservative skrip blue black. Pix below. The pen and variations availab le for order.
Stipula 22, in copper colored. Similar color ink concoction by mix of herbin, havanna brown and ecoline. A dreamy look. I have a fondness for titanium nibs and pens despite the problematics. So far so good. This was from regina, one of the last she had.
Peli toledo 700 with otoman rose and a oblique stub from Richard. Nice. I'm considering crsive italic but my cursive is not yet italic nor my italic cursive. The woes of a left handed writer.
Platinum Music with burgundy is a regular. Wonderful pen and nib. I still dabble in Plats despite gray market accusations et al.
In the reserve pouch a trusty P21, nothing to write home about but reliable and good for forme etc. And an Aurora Hastil b/p because sometimes you need one though not used much. Mechanism a bit iffy.
I also have inked on the desk, Lamy Persona in broad and noodler's ottoman, Netuno Baracuda Red transparent, a cool pen but it's on rest and a Lamy desk pen by the comp filled with penman black by syringe in lamy cart.
Cannot decide whether to ink up the Plat koi fish and calico or to try sell. I have too many pens in the boxes and pen case.
Here's a pic of the Israel Parker 51. B/C for dtls if you are interested:

F/P's are good to use and write with. UI am sure you all agree.
Best to all aficianados

Well, today is the grey marble Pelikan M200 with the Binderized XXXF nib, with Noodler's Squeateague. Yesterday was the brown striated Sheaffer Craftsman with the needlepoint 33 nib, until I decided to walk out of the office to a store with it in my shirt pocket. I would like to hope that someone picked it up from the street and took it home with them, rather than it having been run over by a taxi in the Meatpacking district.
I feel like seventeen types of dork today. I loved that pen.

My luck was amazing today! It was raining, and I was stumping along to work, eyes mostly on the ground to avoid either stepping into a puddle or splashing my cane into one, and I passed a huge concrete planter on the sidewalk a block away from my office...
...and there it was, just one end protruding from beneath the overhang of the planter!
It looks unscathed to the naked eye, and writes; I shall take it home and clean it, AND NEVER CARRY IT IN MY SHIRT POCKET AGAIN!

I currently use two pens daily.
Both FPs are stainless steel with gold trim. The first is a Parker Frontier loaded with Levenger Amethyst. The second is a Sonnet loaded with Levenger Always Greener. I am going to be changing the Always Greener to a blue or black ink shortly. I used to have the Frontier loaded with Quink Black but my wife adopted my second Frontier and I decided I was done with black for a bit.
I should have a replacement for the adopted pen any day now. I will most likely ink the new pen with black though I may try to get something other than Quink Black to try.

Lloyd, the straight FPN was a little too rusty colored for my taste, I prefer browns that are more chocolatey. For my taste, the mix is just right.
The flow characteristics of straight FPN Galileo are fantastic, though. This would be a good ink to rescue dry or slightly scratchy pens.

Just got this in the mail from Rick Propas, and I've been using it all day. It's a PFM I with a Fine-Medium nib, and it's just wonderful. I've been hearing about how great PFMs are for so long, and it's nice to finally have one. The nib is very smooth and starts every time. I immediately filled it with Diamine Prussian Blue.
