Not using - but - recently bought a Nakaya Urushi Portable Size Fountain Pen in the Aka-tamenuri (Reddish Red) color. It has a fine nib and uses a Platinum converter. Have not inked it yet even though it was used. I bought it from Nibs.com. It is a spectacular piece.
Anybody have one of these? Comments - criticisms?

I have the Piccolo writer version of your pen, also with F nib--no criticisms! It's beautiful, I love the finish, the way it handles and writes. If you are used to very wet writers, you might feel a difference there. This is no problem for me, and find like many pens differences in flow based on different inks. The Platinum ink cartridge was for me on the wet side compared to many of my Noodler's inks. You'll love your pen!!
Today I'm using a champagne pink Decimo, F nib with PR Black Magic Blue, and a Yard-o-Led Retro BP with a Visconti black F gel refill. Happy writing!
Sharkle - I'm on a bit of buying binge. Montblanc - Nakaya - now I want a Pelikan M1000. Do you think the Nakaya line will have good resale down the road as my tastes swing from one brand to the other? I'm currently on a strategy of selling off my less expensive pens and financing a more expensive collection. Any recommendations on very good writers with high resale values. Good investment pens in the $300-$600 range?
Thank you for your feedback on the Nakaya - I hope to ink it soon. Will let you know what performance I get.
Very Best,
Bill (Bujalino)

After years of dissatisfied use of two Mont Blancs [the most overrated pens around], I rediscovered Pelikan [Pelikan instruments were the favorites of the draftsmen from my engineering days decades ago]. My Souveran M400 is a wonderful writing instrument.

Today I'm using an Evergreen Viola that I bought from a Korean University bookstore. I bought it to compare how it writes with our Zebra Sarasa pens
http://www.jetpens.com/advanced_search_res...amp;x=0&y=0 from Japan. It's very similar in shape and function, and it's a 0.4 mm tip.
So far I like it! I guess if it passes the test drive, we'll put it on our non urgent list of things to bring in.

I am writing on vintage post cards for the swap using Waterman's Havana brown in two old pens. First, a marbled cream and black 1920s era Morrison medium semiflex from Susan Wirth. Second, a marbled cream and black 1928 Wahl stub from Bert Heiserman.
I must use my blotter more. That ink flows!

Visconti Opera Club Honey Almond. I'm going to open one of the sampler bottles I received the other day from Pear Tree. I think I'll try Noodler's Squetegue. It looks fun!
Edit: I decided to try a Levenger Cartridge of Gemstone Green in my Pelikan Pura. I'm not sure I like it. Too light, maybe too cold. I'll give it some more time. I got a box of a dozen large cartridges for the Pelikan pretty cheap, so if I don't like it I'm not out much.

Hi folks I am new around here...
I have 3 Pelikans and a Waterman 'cheapie' from Staples.
Pelikan M1000, since 1997 Black body - this is my 'red ink' pen I use to grade papers. I use Levenger 'Fireball". Triple Broad nib.
Pelikan M1000 since 1997 Green body. Signature pen for certificates, transcripts, lab signoffs, check writing, all my .normal' writing. Pelikan Black ink (I get the litre bottle) and, again I love the triple broad nibs!
Pelikan M200 since 2005. Blue body. This is the pen I play with - different inks, depending on mood or season. This one has just a single B for Broad. Right now I have Levenger Cobalt Blue in the pen.
Waterman ? This is the pen I loan out when someone needs one if I forget to steal a ballpoint (I refuse to buy one).
I have been using fountain pens exclusively since around 1977. Being left handed you can imagine the challenge of using a 3B nib but I get it done. I am very possessive of my pens and I have walked out of a job interview because the interviewer reached in my pocket to grab my M1000!
I carry my three Pelikans all day, every day and will return home from work to pick them up if by chance I was distracted and forgot them. I will not sign documents at work without my pen. Period. Through 20 years of teaching, being a dean, and just being me I have never lost a pen or had one stolen. I am very lucky.

STILL using my Pelikan 215 (see below) - that pen just doesn't give up all of its ink! It's been weeks in my pocket at this point...
But I think I see the end - the pen is not writing as consistently. Maybe then I can pay attention to my poor neglected Vacumatic, sitting on my desk and waiting for me to write with it.

Oh, and an International Red Mosaic with Noodler's Red for margin notes...
