Hi folks,
I was going through some of my pens and found this Parker 51 that seems a bit odd (at least to me). It looks like a regular 51 but it has a filler like a Vacumatic and some sort of gold band between the section and the body. Does anyone know anything more about this pen?
Thanks,
Ed

Your pen is a "51" that was made before late 1948. The Vacumatic filler is correct. Read my
"51" profile for more information.
To find out just when the pen was made, you can read the date code that's on the barrel near the clutch ring. My
Birthday Pens page explains the code.

"51"s with a gold filled cap usually also have a gold wash or plating in the recess of the clutch ring, too.
Nice pen. My example with a gold fill cap has a home-soldered sloppy clip repair and the gold plating is so worn on the dented cap I can hardly use it for the smell of brass...
Still writes wonderfully, though!
