Hi everybody,

I've been lurking for some time and enjoyed the enormous knowledge about pens and inks etc. and the friendly atmosphere here, so I decided to register.

I have been using fountain pens for some time now. After the usual pens for kids I got a used Monte Rosa which, as I found even as a child made a big difference for writing. I still have it, but the nib doesn't feel as good any more.
Through the years I have abandoned fountain pens for biros, pencils, felt pens, but some ten years ago I started to use fountain pens again. Over these last years I have gotten three Montblancs (nothing fancy, just plain Meisterstücke 146 and 145).

I am definitely not into calligraphy, I just like the smooth feel of writing with a good pen.
At times I still leave the fountain pen for pencils (mostly) and ballpoint pens, but returning to a pen is always a good experience.

Well, I don't know exactly where on the Rhine but I can't be all that way off glare.gif
So I do say hi and welcome.
BTW a 146 isn't all that unfancy either and I just got mine back from Hamburg a few hours ago (yes, today is Saturday) and it writes much better now that it's well-tuned.
I think the best thing sbout MB is their LEs. They look great!

Well, more later.

Welcome to FPN!

Welcome to FPN Bartimaeus! Your wallet won't be thanking you though. I thought I was doing well with my 2 Lamy 2000s before joining and within the last month and a half, I've bought 7 pens! All except 2 from FPN members. It's a whole other world here...

By the way, at which part of the Rhine do you live? I lived in Basel for a couple of year not too long ago. Loved the river... the watching people jump in from the bridges thumbup.gif

Thanks for the welcome!
@ lapis: Congrats to your newly tuned MB 146! With "plain" I meant the simple and unadorned design.
@ LillianAd: I live almost at the other end of the Rhine, in a small town near Düsseldorf, Germany. Do people actually swim in the Rhine in Basel? It would be too dangerous here because of ships, and the river isn't too clean either.

Welcome.

Welcome to FPN! You've come to the right place. Enjoy your fountain pens but there's
no shame in switching to a pencil or ball point when that's what the job calls for.

Wilkommen! As you've no doubt already discovered there is a wealth of information to be discovered on FPN. I also write with fountain pens, exclusively (unless I have to write through a lot of carbon forms), and do so because I love the feel of a good nib putting down ink on good paper. It's amazing how much pleasure one can get from that simple act, but I suspect that it is the common thread that binds almost everyone on this forum together.

bis später,
Ron
