Hi folks, some time back I had conversations here regarding a gold 149 that I purchased at auction. I also mentioned that there were three other pens that sold in the same auction, but the seller refused the bids as too low. It took months for those pens to be re-auctioned, but I just discovered that they are going down in about an hour. And the bids are less then half of what they were the last time for The Black Widow, White House, and Fourth of July. http://www.auctionsinternational.com/displ...?categories=806 Here's the link if anyone has deep enough pockets.

So did the pens sell?

How much did the new owners have to pay?

After some surching I found these:

Lot #1 - Mont Blanc The White House Pen - Winning Bid: 5000.00

Lot #2 - Mont Blanc 4th of July Pen - Winning Bid: 6750.00

Lot #3 - Mont Blanc Magical Black Widow Pen - Winning Bid: 17500.00

I doubt that many Montblanc collectors lost the way into this auction house. And if the auctioneer would have writen the brand name correctly it would have been much easier to find it.

They still may not have sold, as the seller reserves the right of refusal, and these bids are much lower then the last time out. (With the exception of the Black Widow, that took quite a jump in bids in the last hour, apparently. This one was around 12K last time). The auctioneer is legitimate, and mostly sells for governmental entities. In this case a local District Attorney. I "enhanced" my Mont Blanc collection from a previous auction from the same D.A. seizure.

If those bids won, I think I'm just going to sit in a corner and cry...

I was aware about this auction. Initially I was interested about Black Widow. I don't think that it was a good deal at all. These pens were used. Secondly, their paper and their carton boxes were lost. There were only the wooden boxes in bad condition. So there is not a real reason to cry...

True, Ma0ca, but if they were in excellent condition, I don't think I would complain at that price... Though I'm not American, I'd more that willingly scrape together enough money to get the White House FP.

To be honest I don't think they were in excelent condition... Sometimes you buy a pen from a boutique and later you observe slighty scrutches. So imagine a pen that it is used more than three years. No matter how careful you are still there would not be in excelent condition. What also I know from my personal experience is that MB factory does not restore completely limited edition pens. That is their policy. It is rediculous but it is true. In the past I have come in conduct with them about this issue and they told me that the only thing that they do is to fix a pen so as to work properly. But they do not really remore the scrutches.

That's the difference between a pure collector and someone who uses a pen to write with. The latter would not mind a lack of box & papers and some ink in the barrel is just going to be joined by more when the pen gets filled!
