Hi All. I hope someone can help, I'm born again to fountain pens -used them in school in the 60's and suddenly, 2 weeks ago, got completely hooked on them and I don't know why. bought a few Dukes and Heros on ebay which are terrific but then got an old Parker 51 and a 65. They were old and both needed cleaning so it was into the water with them for a few hours. Now the 51 writes as smooth as butter but cuts out and then floods a bit and the 65 writes perfectly but leaks a tiny amount of ink from the join between the feed and the body of the pen, just where it rests on your 2nd finger when writing, leaving a stain there. I'm pretty good with my hands, can anyone tell me if I should send them away for repair or are these common problems that I could fix myself?
Also just want to say the Dukes and Hero's are fantastic, nice and heavy and beautifully behaved!

Is the "51" a vacumatic filler or an Aerometric (the vac has a plunger under a blind cap, the Aerometric barrel unscrews to reveal the sac and press bar). If it's a vac, you probably need a new diaphram, they get pinholes and allow the ink to flood. Also, drip a few drops of ink back into the bottle and release the plunger or press-bar with the nib free of the ink -- the flooding you are seeing can result fro
