Last night I dreamt that I went to our club for lunch and the manager wanted to show Mido (pet name for my pen) to someone who liked big fountain pens. When he got back, Mido's nib was folded back like it had been dropped on it. He didn't know anything about the damage.
I then wandered around the club panicking about how I was going to explain it to Kevin Cheng. I was worried that he either wouldn't sell me another nib or another pen because I am obviously not worthy.
I finally found the guy who like big pens and he had a a pen that was about the size and shape of a Dolly Varden (I was reading a book on fly fishing last night). I showed him Mido and he said "Oh, that's normal for Japanese pens. They all do that from time to time. Get a pair of pliers and I'll fix it for you."
I then started to cry and woke up.

Whoa.
I don't think I've dreamt about my pens yet. Not that I can recall anyway. Will keep my (dream) eyes open for them.
Must have been a relief to wake up!

Yikes...I didn't know anyone else had nib nightmares! (Mine are more often triggered by problems with my prose than by any directly pen-related waking experience).
My condolences!

I only dream about work...computers chasing me down long dark corridors! I think I should have a nice dream about my precious who is travelling to me right now. No, pen dreams don't seem to come out well. I will keep running from the computers! hahahahahahah!
Oboejuan at least your get your pen stress out in dreams.

Hi Joi... Golden Peonies have no fatal errors... If they give you one, shake your bed!
Before sleeping I may dream awake with my "newcomers" ... but once asleep, dreams are dreams; nightmares are not wellcome!!
and... Kathryn, I enjoyed reading your lines and had a good laugh afterwards. Thanks!

My nib nightmares are waking up to find hundreds of different colored puncture marks all over me and my pens scattered about the floor.

LOL, that is some nightmare. Can't say I have nib related nightmares... most of mine are patients related... True story, this one time my wife woke me up and asked me, dead serious.. "who is Deborah?!!!" It took me awile to convince her that Deborah is a very non-compliant patient of mine, and was giving me headaches... and obviously, nightmares.

While working on the International Space Staion project, I had recurring nightmares of being chases across a vast spreadsheet form by giant numbers trying to step on me. The nightmares only stopped after I delivered the final telemetry documents to Houston. by which point my co-workers and family were ready to commit me.

I got a commendation for that work and maintain to this day that they caused my premature grey hair.

So I feel your pain Kevin!
I think about pens going to sleep, escpecially colorful urishi and celluloid ones, but never dream of them. I usually dream of objects come to life. i think I need to stop eating right before bed.

I tend not to have nightmares so much as bad dreams, unless that's my tendency to minimize talking.
My dreams are more pedestrian, having to do with location, place, structures. And people.
Sometimes I wake up laughing.

It's very good to wake up laughing... so you can get asleep again with a smile...
And Kevin... about Deborah... well, many people answer like you. You are a lucky man, some have not survived such a situation to tell it afterwards!!

I have dream pens, and I have had some pen dreams. Usually I am just writing with a FP - but I do not recall much else. Looking at your dream, I think the term nib nightmare is very appropriate.
