Is there a free-flowing bulletproof blue that has no green tint to it?

I would really like to find a true blue that's bulletproof, but so far the Noodlers blues I've tried have a distinctly green /torquoise tone (legal lapis) or have some other issues (BSB; Luxury Blue clogging). I was about to try a bottle of Ottoman Azure, but that's neither BP and some on the boards have said there is a green tint to that too. Now, recognizing that everyone sees color a little differently, do you have a tried and true Noodler's BP blue you can recommend?

Colors are not my strong point... but I find that Noodler's Gulfstream Blue is more of a gray blue or slate blue than a greenish blue like Legal Lapis. Gulfstream Blue is a Swisher's exclusive ink. I use it a lot.

You can try Upper Ganges Blue. It's a pretty deep blue. It's name is quite appropriate as it really looks like the color of a blue river. I don't personally notice any green in it, just a dark slate blue. As with most non-black bulletproof inks, it does have a bit of a milky grain to it.

It does run a little dry though and needs a fairly wet writer. It works pretty well in the Lamy 2000 F I current have it in. It's very fast to dry for a bulletproof ink, too.

Thanks, I'll look into Glazier Blue. I should have checked it out when I was at Chuck Swisher's table at the NY/NJ Show! headsmack.gif

I'd like to try Upper Ganges Blue too, but pendemonium is out of stock. Anyone know where else I can get it?

Thanks!

I can say that Legal Blue do not match your requirements: It is very greenish blue.

Gulfstream Blue is darker than Glacier Blue. I've tried Glacier Blue and enjoyed the color (blue to azure, don't know if you'd see green in it or not) but found it very picky about paper quality.

If you need resistance to water but are not using the ink to write things that might catch fraudsters' attention, consider Namiki/Pilot Blue and Sailor Blue.

I mix my own range of bulletproof blues using Noodler's Aquamarine and Hellbender Red from Swisher Pens (no affiliation). Both inks flow freely and are pretty well-behaved. In general, adding Hellbender Red (which is really magenta, the complement of green) removes the green component from other colors, including blues. Violet Vote (Iraqi Indigo) should get the job done, too, although it's less versatile and you'd have to use a lot more of it.

I can't say I know where you can get some Ganges Blue... But, I do have 2 bottles I always keep in stock because it is my favorite blue to write with. I bounce between Noodler's Luxury, Manhattan, Legal Lapis, Bay State, and Ganges. I love the way Ganges comes off the pen. After it dries then it tends to have what I would call a chalk-like fading (But, I still prefer the way it dries compared to Luxury). The BP power of it is great! The look of the Bay State impresses me and I love the way it dries and looks afterward but, I need to find a pen to use it in (I have mostly Lamy's and have had problems with Bay State in them). If you can get a bottle I would recommend trying it.

Not a blue but the Aircorp Blue-Black is in my top 3 Noodler's choices.

The green thing has been driving me NUTS about Noodler's blues. It's really souring me on Noodler's in sort of a subconscious way; no matter the color blue it seems to have green in it.

I do think Polar Blue is good, either by itself or as a mixing ink. I mix Polar Blue with PR DC Supershow Blue and PR American Blue and it works great- it adds the layer of bulletproof if I rinse or bleach the page and it increases the shading of the PR inks by thinning them out a bit. I've been going through this mix like mad over the two months.

I'm not sure if there's any green in it, but it sure as heck isn't full of green like all of the other Noodler's blues I've tried- Blue, Navy, Legal Blue, Aquamarine Blue, or Legal Lapis. Visually, it is rather underwhelming by itself color-wise, and it's really chalky. But, unlike Legal Lapis, it mixes well with many inks- I've tested it with Slovenian Skrip Blue, Omas Blue, and PR American Blue, DC Supershow Blue and Naples Blue and there are no ill effects. Mixing the PR blues with Legal Lapis ended up with some precipitation and staining of the ink vial in the color of Legal Lapis, permanently as far as I can tell.

I've not tried it w/ Waterman's Florida Blue in an attempt to equalize any green, but I think I'll give it a go to see how it looks. It might help to tone down the excessive purplish look of the Florida Blue. smile.gif

I really like Ottoman Azure, although it's not an Azure at all, more like a dark blue with some lighter shading.
