I have a Leica C lux 2 digital and no idea how to use it properly for pen pics!

Each time I post a pic on FPN it is way too big and not really focused well. Can anyone here throw me a few (simple) ideas of what I need to do?

Thankyou embarrassed_smile.gif

The first trick I'd point you to, Nicholas, is to re-size your pictures to something manageable like 640x480 or thereabouts. This will, due to the size, trick the eye into thinking that the picture is clearer, as well as keeping the viewer from having to scroll to see the entire image. There's a pretty good freeware app for Windows called IRFanView that does a good job of this. For Mac, there's plenty of AppleScripts out there that'll take a picture and re-size it for you.

As far as getting better pictures overall, I'd recommend using as much natural light as you can (i.e., not lamps and such), and lots of practice.

(For what it's worth, I'm in the process of putting a thread together with a few resources, other threads, and some tips & tricks to help fellow FPNr's enjoy their pictures a little more.)

Is there anything that you DON"T know? THanks again. I use a Mac, so I'll see what I can find.

Hi youstruckgold:

Your camera has a few options you can use.

1. find and use the Macro function. It allows you to get very close to the pen and remain clear.
2. White Balance: use the "halogen light" or "manual" adjustment to get around 3500K - 3700K. This improves the "light balance" to use of household lights (outdoor being ~ 5000K).
3. Use the "portrait" function, which can adjust all the above (except for macro I believe)
4. Change the resolution of the 4:3 aspect ratio to 1280X960 or 640X480, which will make the pictures smaller and more manageable.

Try each one by itself or a combination of these and see how you do.

Good Luck! thumbup.gif
