Full Version: Good find at Staples

I picked up one of these at Staples the other day to use for my work notes:

http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p1_...es_10051_SEARCH

And I'm very happy with it. The paper is nice and smooth; heavy and does not bleed through with the fountain pens I tried.
It has a 4x4 rulling on one side and a 5x5 ruling on the other so you can choose which one you prefer, or alternate if you use both sides of the page.

The link shows it being the Mead brand, but the one I got is the Staples house brand, with a green cover. It's the same product, most likely re-packaged or re-labeled.

YMMV... but it was a steal at $2.79. Paper is every bit as nice as Rhodia or Clairefontaine. It says it was assembled in Mexico, but that doesn't necessarily mean the paper was maufactured there. Paper could be from anywhere.

Been using them for awhile and I agree.
If you take the time to look Staples and Walmart (oops) both carry some quality paper in various forms and sizes.

looks good! does it lay flat?

Very flat since it's just bound with glue

These work very well even with my wet broad nibs without any bleed through. They are punched for a three hole binder so archiving see really easy. thumbup.gif

Sorry I am a little off point but it seems that good paper often turns up in strange places. I have been using my brother in laws yellow physians note paper and it is beautiful. It is smooth to write on, holds ink well, does not bleed even with some of the wet nibs I like and does not pick up any paper fiber in the nib. He gave me 4 reams of it before he retired but I am almost out. I use it for my client notes so it needs to be yellow but the regular attorney note pad paper is junk for FP, at least all that I have used, any ideas on a good quality narrow lined pad or looseleaf paper in yellow that works well with FP's Chuck Cochran

I think it's true. Good paper does turn up in the strangest places... and it's not always about price.

At your own risk, try the Rhodia yellow tablets. They tend to be good because they're Rhodia, but people have had mixed results with them. They're expensive - $13 bucks. And an odd size, 8 1/2 x 14.

For much less money, some of the Mead Cambridge yellow tablets are also good. They come spiral bound at the top or staple bound at the top. I also think they have one with numbered lines, esp. for lawyers. The quality can vary but at 3$ each and on sale at every Rite-Aid in America, might be worth a try. The paper is nice and thick; 20#.

Good luck!

PS I went back to Staples yesterday to pick up a few more of those quad ruled books and they were on sale for 1.99 each. My lucky day, I guess :0)

These were on sale for $0.50 each during the back to school sales. I always stock up on composition notebooks during that time of the year. I picked up two of these on a whim but have yet to crack into them. Now I can't wait. smile.gif

I only use the Rhodia # 19 in yellow. I have yet to find a page that is bad. I write alot outside and I find that the yellow is much easier on my eyes.
