I am planning on getting a new Parker FP (since it is one of the very few brands they sell where I live) and I am not sure what to get.
I have a budget of $50 but I also want something that has a classic look to it (so not a Vector) and must have a decent smoothness while writing.
Any suggestions?

The Frontier! It is well under your budget and in the Stainless Steel finish (Flighter) has a classic look.

Alternatively, I think that you can order a stainless steel nib Sonnet from ebay for few dollar below 50. But I understand you want to buy from a B&M so that's not an option maybe.

Cheers,

If you can get an entry level Sonnet for your budget, that would be my suggestion.

Parker Frontier is a great buy now... It looks much more expensive than what you will pay for. But it is not so classic-look. If you want the more classic look one, then you should go for the famous Parker 51.

Parker 45 is a great first time FP. Especially if you get a vintage one from e-bay. Love 'em. They have a beautiful, classic, timeless look to them. Fantastic workhorses and virtually indestructible. Look up some of the reviews and discussion posts here.

Nope. And the 51 was discontinued some 50 years ago... you'll be able to find it used on the bay for that price however...

But if you want a new Parker AND buying it on a Brick and Mortar shop, 45 and Frontier are within your range.

I see. Speaking of ebay, since I really don't trust it, is fountainpenemporium.com reliable?? I saw a 1940 model 51 being sold for $110 in that case I might push my budget up a little bit, but I don't want my money being blown of for a replica or probably even nothing, so is it reliable?

Sorry, no idea - but why not check out our own 'Classifieds' forums? You could post a request in 'Wanted To Buy' yourself. Members here who sell, and have a good number of posts under their name, can be considered pretty reliable.
