Hi everyone,

Need clarification on an issue I've been trying to figure out

Is there a difference between the " Sheaffer Lifetime Senior " and the " Sheaffer Oversize Balance "

If there is a difference,

Can you please let me know what is the difference between the two

and what the exact dimensions are of each ?

I would greatly appreciate any help that could be provided

Thank you smile.gif

In short, yes there is a difference. Check out Richard Binder's site under reference info. for an article on the Balance, including dimensions. The most significant difference is the girth of the pen. OS Balance pens have a barrel diameter of 0.516" VS 0.469" for full size or Senior pens.

When you handle the pens side by side, you will recognize the difference immediately.

Keep in mind there are more than a few variations in each size category; clip design, cap bands, length, filler, etc.

And also, for what it's worth, I believe the OS Balance to be one of the best pens ever made; I've been carrying one every day for a couple of months.

well, for one thing, at least amongst Sheaffer Balance, there is no such thing as a Lifetime Senior, at least ussing formal jargon.

Here are photos of mine:

Obviously, the pen of the left is a mis-match. But I got it cheap and the colors work nicely.

From the left, the first three are “thin” standard size, then come two Juniors with standard girth, then two full-length standard girth, then the Oversize and finally the 1998 Limited Edition.

The third from the left was made in Canada and the veining pattern is different from the American pens, with the veins being thinner and more linear.

Enjoy!

Kelly, David, and Glenn :

Thank you so much for the replies.

Now I am a lot more clear as to the terms used. I was encountering a lot of "senior" and "oversize."

From the pics online, they both used to look very similar to me.

But now I see the difference in the width (diameter) of the pens.

I really appreciate all of you taking the time to reply.

Glenn, thank you for that wonderful pic ! I am able to see directly the difference in the oversize compared to the others

The color and sheer beauty of those pens are amazing puddle.gif

Thank you all very much again smile.gif
