Its so convenient for everyone or so it seems when they have problems with the pens to either send it to MB or have a notable tech work on it (the names of amazing individuals who do excellent service/maintenance for these pens are numerous)..

So I was thinking.. what happens to the rest of us that live in a cave? sad.gif lol I mean, in the middle of the desert, say the Middle East, or here and there that do not have MB service shops nearby or any worthy technician that you can trust with your precious MB?

And although we may travel frequently, we wouldn't be in a place long enough to wait for a service..

So it seems to me that (for my friends and I) that you buy a MB and it either writes well or it doesn't.. and you just have to keep it and be content with it like that sad.gif

You can take it to the MB boutique and they should take care of it. Whether they send it to Germany or to the nearest service centre. In the Middle-east, there are cervice centres in Kuwait, Saudi, Bahrain, Qatar, Dubai, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt. So I think the Middle-east is quite covered. That being said, MB have a policy not to service or repair any limited edition except in Hamburg. Indipendant pen techs is another story, I don't know any in the area. You could send a pen to any of the skillful people in the US and EU.

In Jordan there is no MB boutique, but rather a retailer that vends jewelry, perfumes and pens also sells MBs as an authorized retailer.. they would take in the pen to fix it, having a local technician 'attempt' to give it a go if its not a serious defect otherwise they will send it abroad which would take ages for the pen to come back..

It just does not have the same feeling as having a proper MB boutique take in and service your pen for you.. I know the GCC countries (UAE, KSA, Bahrain, Kuwait etc) have proper MB boutiques but the MENA/LEVANT region not so lucky unfortunately..

Darius
Although there is no boutique in Jordan, there is an official MB cervice centre, or at least there's an address for them. Maybe they send it to the closest service centre. There's a service centre in Lebanon, and in Israel. I got these addresses from the MB site.

Thanks Darius for the info. I went to the one in Bayadir Wadi Sir a few months back and like I said it seemed like a general repair shop for that retailer's merchandise and the technicians were commissioned to repair all kinds of goods that the store sells.. I spoke to the man for a few minutes and did not feel comfortable having him work on my SE Starwalker's nib.

I guess I can have it sent away (through them or independently) for repair.. Israel would be a bit difficult, not sure how they are in other locations.. but generally to the U.S.. its just that its a hassle, shipping and anticipating abroad customs etc. All the pens I have write well its my Starwalker only that is a nightmare..

Israel might actually be the best place to send it to. I've heard that there are many well-qualified MB repairpeople there who have been doing this for ages. Is there a serious problem with customs? I di not think this was the case for Jordan.
Pravda
I don't suppose customs are a real problem, they open stuff to check what is inside and so I usually would rather not have anyone handle anything 'precious' lest it gets dropped or scratched.. I dunno..

The thing with sending it to Israel, although it is sanctioned, I think post fro and to Jordan might raise a few yellow (red?) flags here and there.. and then my name might be put on a list, and then I will be under surveillance, and then.. LOL smile.gif Just kidding though it might be difficult.

Pravda, you could ask the autherised repair sentre to send the pen to Hamburg for you. They should do that for you. If they refuse or claim that they need to attempt the repair before asking help from Hamburg, you could email MB and complain about that.
