I've actually been a bit surprised that line pitch doesn't receive a lot attention in notebook review/discussions. I find it a key concern. Even a 1mm difference is tangible. It affects writing size and hence comfort/ergonomics. It affects how much information can fit on a page. It affects white space and hence whether the net result is an attractive page of text or not.
Very much agreed. I can not STAND 'wide ruled' notebook paper and 'college ruled' isn't much better. Neither I nor a friend have been able to find 'narrow ruled' (I haven't seen it since the last time I needed loose leaf notebook paper, a
long time ago). Fortunately I haven't needed anything but notebooks of my own choosing lately so I concentrate on the nice bound ones like the C R Gibbons at Target.

... or maybe it's just a personality flaw and I'm not supposed to worry about keeping the writing between the lines!
