One of the nice pens that my favorite postman brought to my door today.

That's a good looking pen. Is it your first of that style? What about it do you like best?

Cheers

This is my 5th cool.gif - I posted a photo of the others here (scroll down to see them).

I like the colors of the others and this broad oblique (relief) nib in this one smile.gif

Nice!

I think those 12's are really a good value, although not always easy to find. It's almost insane how broad most of those nibs are, isn't it?

Looks nice Antonios! Which ink is that?
Gerry
I just wish any nib I had wrote like Antonio's nibs appear to wink.gif .

Out of curiosity, what represents a 'good value' for a 12?

Marina, it is Waterman Blue-Black but the photo is changing the color.

Gerry, thanks for the compliment smile.gif
Value is difficult to determine for Esterbrook reliefs since you can not find them often.
I paid about $60 on e-bay knowing that it is a broad nib and that the pen is unrestored with brassing on the clip and discoloration in the section.
I consider this to be a very good price - even if you take the risk of e-bay into account... Retail price of a similar but excellent sample can reach $200+

THere are other colors of the relief 12 that are more desirable.
Gerry
Yikes. Well, you certainly did get a good deal. I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open on the 'Bay for another user grade pen. Unless, of course I come across a garage sale Sumgai smile.gif

Brian's probably gonna ambush any MIB models that surface anywhere in the civilized world ... wink.gif

Yes, $60 is an excellent price. I think $210 for a black 12 is outrageous. I paid much less that that for one that had the original sticker. If it were a more exotic color I might play, but black shouldn't rise above $125-150 IMO.

Some day antonios, we really need to have our own little Relief show in person, wouldn't that be something? Maybe you could make mine mysteriously write as nice as yours do. biggrin.gif

I was going to start a new thread, but might as well throw all the Relief 12's in the same place. smile.gif

Here are a few new pictures:

I thought they looked pretty good together. Now, Antonios, care to throw in a picture of that Tiger Eye 12 you just got? smile.gif

Not as good a picture like yours but here it is.
A very nice Tiger Eye on the left (much better than in the picture) as well as some other goodies a LJ green icicle, a visumaster pencil and a Deluxe .
I have to get a better one. Maybe over the weekend.

A better one? Over the weeend?

Do you have a hoard of these Relief 12 in tiger eye I should know about? biggrin.gif tongue.gif

I've never seen one in person, but I can imagine it's a stunning pen. I unfortunately passed on a couple early on in my collecting experience, but still hope to someday find one for a reasonable price.

Looking foward to another picture!

I am not sure if this is much better but here is the Tiger Eye with its cousins.

Conway sure did a great job of making plastics that really have some depth to them. That Tiger eye looks like you could reach down in between the layers. Very cool stuff!
