I'm no expert, but is this what I think it is? If so it'll be out of my league but should be fascinating. Or have I just switched on a metaphoric spotlight?

So what is it a herringbone grey Duro?

If that's not one of the three that Donahaye mentions, then it's a new find and that would seem to make the fourth example of that style to surface.

Absolutely, this is the 'serious collectors only' silver (or grey) herringbones in which all known examples appear to even have names.

Quite a nice pen, of course, but its a rarity and so highly valued. I wonder how many more would need to turn up before the value decreases? The (not as attractive) CS22 floral pattern pens appear to be less valuable after quite a few turned up on the dreaded.

(Just looking for sympathy here, just now I missed the end on a pen I was hugely looking forward to, got distracted for just less than a minute too long. Rats!)

OK so it's one of those pens. The kind I define as requiring a lot of explanation for why they are so valuable.

thanks,

Hi,

Glad somebody clarified this, I was looking at and wondering what was going on as the price went seriously high I hadn't seen this colour before. Wonder if the seller had any idea what she had or if she was just very pleasantly surprised.

I'm really glad I didn't see that until today... Other collectors are probably really glad as well, as that one would have ended up in my pocket.

I love the grey & black herringbone - I wish they would have ran it in quantity so there were more examples out there and they were more available.
