not sure if this has been brought up before...but i saw pics of the new range of polar lights...and the first thing that go tme was the new clip design...what happened to the pelikan clip???
call me old fashioned but i loved the pelikan clip...it was such a small but distinct design feature of their pens...why get rid of it and make a generic clip?
i really dissappointed me...i'm glad i still have a pelikan with old style clip...
what does everyone else think of the new clip?

The M640 pens: Niagara Falls, Sahara, and Polar Lights have an updated clip that is different than the classic Pelikan clip. My NF is a great pen, and the clip works just as well as the traditional beak-shaped ones. If you see the pen in person, the clip is nice and not generic.
Yes, it's different, but it mates well with the pen.

True. I also wonder why they change the clip shape.
Althought i love sahara fall.
I still prefer the old clips.

I liked that the clips had a bird's face and beak, so I'm sad to see that design go.

You are right but what to say then about the whole Pelikan Ductus project? It looks like a complete restyling of the Souveran line, with straight lines and round edges... I found it horrible.
http://www.pelikan.com/pulse/Pulsar/de_DE....llhalter-p-3110But you can be sure that the Souveran desing will never change... all in all is timeless and the Souveran is still the most sold high range Pelikan line.
Best,

Well, we've had this talk before and I think I said this but may have just thought it.
For a long time people have clamoured for "new" designs from Pelikan, grousing about how repetitive their designs were. Always just a variation on the Souveran. LE's were "boring" because they were just different colors of the Souveran.
So, Pelikan made some new high end pens that were quite different from their Souveran line. (shrug)

I like their old clip. Not because it's traditional, but because it is built perfectly. Clips ON easily INTO a pocket, but then HOLDS ON TIGHT!
The beak looks are nice but not all that necessary. IMO

The polar lights clip is great--clips onto thicker notebook covers then my m800. I love the old clip but that has not changed on the other pens. The polar lights clip has a nice sweep to it and is reminiscent of the pelican beak. It is just different-- something new AND wonderful!!!

i just really liked the little extra detail that the beak clip had...the functionality maybe the same or better...but i was never concerned about that side of it.
its like if Parker developed a new clip that was better, but took off the arrow head...
just my opinion
