Unfortunately no. But you know there's a cute imprint of a nesting pelican on the nib? There's a label beneath it that says "Rupert", and I'd always thought it was a girl pelican!

Wow! Kewl pen! I would love to have the 2 versions of M800 demo.. My only comment would be that the M800 pelikan cap should ideally be transparent like the vintage M400 or M200 (old style aka dome cap) series.. Just IMHO..

Hi,
Nice looking pen, do they come without the engraving though, personally I think that detracts from the pen, but I guess you pay your money and take your choice.
Enjoy the pen.

The one I got from Art Brown had no labelling. Only available in M nib though.

I'm so glad you posted pics of this pen. Seeing wonderful, up close, photos of pens I might not personally own is one of the best facets of FPN. In some way I don't know if I want to see the "guts" so readily. While it appeals to my love of pen innards, I don't know if I'd enjoy replacing the external beauty of my pens. I like to coordinate my pens with the occassion/use and often coordinate them with the leather folio i'm using in meetings.
I must say, tho, that your coordination withe Black and Red journal is fantastic!
Thanks

How do the Red&Black notebooks hold up? I don't usually like that type of coiling, because after so many times of folding it back on itself, you end up loosing the back cover and the last few pages. I was wondering if Red&Blacks do that?
Also... what red are you using? And does it have any nib "gumming" issues?

FloridaRandy, I enjoy looking at others' pen photos a lot. I have a folder full of downloaded pen photos from FPN just to look at occasionally, which included your very tempting Aurora Reflessi!
Usui, the Black & Red seems to hold up well so far. The covers are plastic so I think it should hold up better than cardborad-based covers.
The red ink is Stipula Dark Red,
I think. I'm hesistant because I got it a few months ago from Pendemodium together with the Florentine Red. The two were so similar in colors I thought there might be a mistake. The Stipula inks have no labels on them, but just some dot-samples on their boxes. And Sam at Pendemonium helpfully stuck labels to differentiate them, but I've since lost the labels!
I did leave them on different shelves, however, so if there's no mistake I think it's the Dark Red. It's a lovely velvety red, no hint of orange at all; one of my favs. I love red; probably have more than 10 different red inks, lol. I don't know about gumming cos' I haven't left them idle in any pen for long. I find the Stipula inks, however, to be less saturated than most except the Herbins, so perhaps gumming shouldn't be a problem.

Beautiful pen and I love the labeling. Just fortunate it's an 800. If it was a 600 size, I'd a been done fer. The red ink looks yummy.

I also posted this in the 800 demonstrator review thread:
Could some kindly comment on the differences in weight/balance between the 800 demonstrator
and the standard 800/805 pen? Also, how does the durability of the demonstrator compare
to a non-demonstrator? Does the material difference affect much?
As always, any and all info is appreciated.

I put both the Demo & a M800 on the scale, no ink, and they came out 1oz each. They handle the same too balance wise; I find no problem with their balance, but I recall someone found it unbalance due to the brass piston. It's likely personal preference I think.
I can't comment on their durability, yet. I don't know how the materials differ in terms of durability, but I'd think scratches are likely to be more visible on the Demo cos' it's clear plastic, but less so on the striated versions. I think if care has been taken they should last a while yet, else I'd Chartpak

I think it looks good with or without labels. I picked one with labels due entirely to its novelty. For a while, I wasn't keen on demos at all. And I figured out it was because a piston-filler looked better naked than a C/C filler. With piston-filler there are more innards to look at, and the larger amount of visible sloshing ink probably help, but YMMV.
KenS, your hot little hands may melt it
printhardcopy, it'd be interesting to see the result!

They came back with the message from the Danish Pelikan agent, that such a thing couldnīt possible be sold to regular customers anywhere in the world. Demonstrators will only be distributed to the stores.....
I have just recieved a mail from Susan from Avalon Pens, confirming that my payment has gone through, and telling me that the model without engravings will be sent to me Monday.
Anyway, during my contact with my local shop (Stelling & Fyldepennedepotet, Copenhagen), I told them about this place and recommended that they create an account here to be able to follow and participate in discussions here. I know that they have customers all over Scandinavia, and that probably some of these customers are users of FPN.

For what it's worth, I have both these pens in stock. I have decided to keep for myself one of the plain ones and sell all the etched. I love the plain. (Except for the black captop--what were they thinking?) It's inked and in my pocket. I'm little tempted by the etched.

I bought both and paid too much. I put the one with the parts description in my curio cabinet and the plain one I filled with Caran d'Arche Sunset (red). It took me a couple of hours to clean and I wish that I had just bought the engraved one. Since it is a Pelikan it writes well but I can't stand the stain so I'm debating what to do with it.

Not much to say.
My new M800 Clear Demonstrator arrived yesterday morning. I filled it with the new Noodlers "pinstripe" which I thought would be blue but is green; even more surprising is that it seems to be a "bulletproof" ink. Yikes!! In a demonstrator?? I guess I'll find out if it stains sometime soon. The pen writes beautifully. One surprise is that the medium nib is about the same as the fine on my other M800, and the extra fine on my M1000, so my fears of having too wide of a nib for everyday tasks were unfounded. I remain totally happy to have made the purchase.
Best regards, Ken

Would you look at my signature now? I got it today, and inked it immediately. Also immediately emptied and flushed it again, since the Pelikan 4001 Brillant Red was too pale for my tastes. I know there must be more powerful red inks out there.

If you're looking for stronger red, you might wanna try the Waterman or Shaeffer reds; they're both really red, I mean RED! The Waterman is slightly brighter. From experience, I find them both to be well-behaved inks - no clogging, but not sure about staining. I think most reds would stain sooner or later. If you don't mind red with a hint of magenta, I'd try the burgundy or bordeaux. Also, Sailor Red-Brown is quite nice - a gorgeous browish red that shades like crazy.
