Has anyone ever touched/used these? Are they essentially the same as the Classic notebooks we get here in the US? I noticed that the Age Bag books are available in a blank and grid version where as I can't find anything but lined in the Classics.

Thanks

I have one in A6 (?) size. To be honest I have got around to using it yet, mostly put off by the fact that it won't lay flat due to the binding.

I picked up one from Nota Bene. I have not tried any of the other Clairefontaine paper yet, but this seems to be the same as described. It is very smooth and very thick. I have written with many RB and gel inks and one FP (basic Sailor ink - blk). Nothing feathers and absolutely not bleed through. I really cant even see the writing from the other side.

Tha only thing I didn't like about it is that the lines are spaced a little too far for me. And a few more sheets would have been nice. I think this one was 60.

Eric.

Yep, use them all the time. Same as the classic (I'm assuming you mean the Matris line) notebooks, except for the covers. Oh, wait. Doesn't Pendemonium call the Age Bag stuff "Classic"? If that's what you mean, then yes, they're identical.

I use both the lined and grid clothbound Age Bag books, mostly A5, but some A4, and I've used the A5 ringbound with the perforated pages and three fileholders/dividers.

In my experience, most places (b&m or online) don't carry the whole line. But if you want something they don't have you'll often be able to place a special order. This usually entails a lengthy wait and committing to buying the whole lot of whatever you order (eg retailers have to order A5 clothbound in packs of 5 from Clairefontaine, so if that's what you want, you'll have to buy all 5). HTH.

Does anyone have any idea what 'Age Bag' is supposed to mean, or maybe suggest? You would think that someone at Clairefontaine might have a second cousin who spoke English and could point out that for an international retailer it was a bit ... (erm) odd.

I had heard it was a play on words - "baggage".

If by matris you mean the colored cover books, no. Classics for me are the black and brown covered books that we see here in the US. They only come in lined versions. I see Age Bag at Nota-Bene with grid, lined and blank as well as wire bound. The covers are the same color. I have to think they're the same idea.

Correction, I think I may be calling them "Classic" when they are actually "Basics".

Ah, that's it! "Basics".

I've bought "Basics" black lined from Pendemonium, and "Age Bag" black and tobacco, lined and squared from a handful of shops here in Canada - they are definitely the same product.
