I like slim fp's, so I am curious about the Harmonie, Hemisphere, and Laureat. Any views out there? Any other Watermam options I should consider?

Thanks!

Hi

I haven't used the Hemisphere but I have a Harmonie and three Laureat's in my collection. Of the two models I much prefer the Laureat which is a nice pen to use. I think that you will find the Laureat is now out of production and it has been replaced by the Harmonie.

Both pens are slim, though the section of the Laureat is ribbed instead of being smooth. Some people like this while others don't

Hope the above is of help

Regards

Thank you for your reply, David. As a follow-up, how would you characterize the Laureat nibs?

Thank you again!

I too would recommend the Laureat over the other two. I haven't used mine for a while but from what I remember it is a well balanced pen, v. smooth nib, reliable writer, slightly on the wet side but not overly so. It is a pen which has bit of a fan club on this forum - see Laureat link

www.penmuseum.co.uk describe the replacement to the Laureat as being a much inferior model and as I have always believed this to be the Harmonie, I've never tried it.

I have a hemisphere It writes well (at least it did before it was dropped sans cap headsmack.gif ) For a slender pen it has decent weight in the hand. I also like the snap cap and the sloping top. Though I would have to say the trim does not wear well. I've had mine 10 years.

Haven't tried the other 2.

I always used Parker pens before being given a Waterman Laureat as a gift. The nib is a medium and writes very smooth with a good flow of ink. I have two others and both have nice nibs on them. It was this Laureat that made me fall in love with Waterman pens, now I have a collection of them - mostly Carene's

I have both a Laureat and Hemisphere and both write well. Actually, I'm on my second Laureat and third nib, and I finally have a good medium with a generous ink flow. I didn't like the fine nibs on either Laureat (#1 stayed in a library once upon a time). My Hemisphere has a fine nib and writes very well, especially with Herbin inks, but if I were to choose one, it would be the Laureat with medium nib.
