Hi:
I'm Tom and I'm here in Des Moines, Iowa. I've just recently been bitten by the fountain pen bug and I really enjoy it. My first, of probably several, purchases was a Dani Trio Mikado in ebonite (clipless). I really love it, large enough for me to hold unposted, and thick enough not to cause my hands to hurt (I'm 35, I used to do a bit of boxing, that and I'm a little arthritic, so my hands are a bit sensitive, especially when its cold or the weather changes). I'd strongly recommend this pen to anyone who's hands are prone to pain. Additionally, the raw ebonite finish has just enough tactility and friction to convey a soft feel. As I said, I really like it.

Hi Tom,
Welcome! Just 240 miles north in MN. That is a nice pen you have, though I favor vintage pens myself. Glad it helps you write through the arthritis. The cold weather should break in another 8 or 12 weeks.
Take Care,
Phil

Hi Tom,
To welcome you from below Iowa, I'm Ann from MO. You'll doubtless get a lot of ideas for pens you may want from reading this board. There's no shortage of big pens that you'd probably feel comfortable with. Let us know what you get.
Best, Ann

Hello and welcome to FPN Tom. Glad to see another from our age bracket join up (36 here). You certainly got into FPs with a great start - that Dani just might ruin you

. See you around.

Hey Tom!
Nice to see a fellow Iowan in these parts. I'm from only an hour east of you in Grinnell, and I was actually in Ames just this evening.
Awesome choice with the Mikado - those Dani raw ebonites are simply amazing. I hope to reacquire one in the near future now that the newer, smaller pen is for sale.
Anway, welcome to the forum and hope to see you around!
PM/Email me if you're ever passing through Grinnell!
