Can someone point me to a couple of USA sites with a good range of Sailor fountain pens for sale? I've actually browsed through Ujuku (Japan site, i know) and most of the Sailor pens I can't afford. Pendemonium doesn't seem to carry many Sailor pens, nor does isellpens. I'm looking to browse through Sailor pens that close less than $100 smile.gif Pilot seems to make a lot of FPs for that price or less, but not so much with Sailor, it seems.

Thanks!

Have you tried Swisher? Although Sailor is not a brand that really runs in the $100 price range, but I believe they have the Sapporo for $120.

Thanks Julie and Kay! I can afford something a little over $100 but not much more.

Having tried and been burned by the European FP brands (by that I mean they don't produce F or XF nibs fine enough for me, with the possible exception of Rotring) I'm sticking with Japanese brands. Looking at my collection, I have 3 Pilots and another Pilot coming in some time around October. I'm thinking...why not branch out to try Sailor and Platinum.

She's the first one I check with whenever I want another fountain pen.

My Sailors and Namiki/Pilots do tend to run a nib-size smaller than my European pens. I only own one Platinum but it is more like the Europeans, so perhaps the adage doesn't apply to all Japanese brands. But, as usual, YMMV.

Thanks! This is good for me to know. I haven't seen many Platinum models around.

another vote for Swisher. I've bought pens and inks and had perfect service and swift shipping from them.

I have a Sapporo with extra-fine nib. Yes, it writes very well. But if you expect quality finish and design at that price, in my opinion it falls short of the competition (say a Parker lacquer Sonnet or Lamy 2000). The body is injection-molded and mine still has the mold seam showing. Threads are molded and not cut, and many twists to open. Converter has small capacity (even for EF nib set to write dry). The jewel on the cap is just molded in and highlighted with a dab of paint; the decorative rings don't match; the clip wobbles.

The upside is that it goes into my levis pocket with not a worry about scratches, and I'll let people borrow it. Its a tool.

Thanks for this tip! I found she really does have the best prices. I'm getting a Sapporo from her for just a smidgen over $100 ;-) And it's a Japanese EF! Oh...the joys of EF smile.gif

That's alright. I'm really looking for a good writer. I love my Décimo and Pilot 78G. I'm more of a writer who uses fountain pens than a collector. There's nothing really valuable or vintage in my collection. The only aesthetically nice ones I have are probably the Lamy Studio, Décimo, and soon my Pilot M90.

Oscar Braun Pens. Email Pam and tell her you are looking for a Sailor pen for $100 or less and ask what is available.

I don't know who else.
