Good afternoon:
Contemplating purchasing the Pilot SILVERN FK-5MS in the TUMUGI pattern with a medium nib. Has anyone had any experience with the modern style? Also are there another suppliers in addition to ujuko? No problems, just loooking around for a secondary supplier that may be cheaper than them
Thanks for your help

I find these pens very appealing too - in several of the patterns offered.
Will look forward to an answer to Doug's question.

The Silvern employs the tried and true Pilot inlaid nib that was made famous in the Custom line during the 1970's. It's a great nib that writes a little finer than Western nib sizes (so a medium is closer to a fine in size). Pilot makes excellent fountain pens and their quality control is top notch. The workmanship on the Silvern is first rate. If you search for "Silvern" on this forum sub section, you'll see plenty of postings and photos.

I have 3 silverns from the 1960s and totally agree with Gary's comments earlier. I bet the modern versions are just as good

The modern Silvern is a wonderful, smooth writer that you would expect from a high end Pilot pen. Great quality and craftsmanship. If you haven't ever used Pilot's inlaid nib, it's a real treat (although I find that it doesn't have much flex).
Note that it is a HEAVY pen; it's not a pen that you slip into your front dress shirt pocket. I purchased from Ujuku a couple of years ago. No problems.
