So, just wondering if anyone else draws with fountain pens. I am an illustrator(children's books) and mostly draw with mine. I have multiples of pens I like so I can use different nibs in the same drawing. Different nibs=different lines. I have two Mont Blanc 149's fine and medium. Two Falcons fine and medium. Two Pelikan M800 fine and medium and a Pelikan Polar lights fine(finer that the M800!) the Polar lights is my new favorite--sooo comfortable to hold--very wet nib. So I would love to know IF you draw and what you use OR recommend. I heard the Sailor Zoom nib makes a lot of different lines but the convertor seems like it will not hold enough ink. Any custom ground nibs? If you would like to see my work visit www.stevelightart.com (I also teach Pre-K so think like a 3 year old when looking at the art!)

I draw border designs and envelope designs (for snail mail) with Waterman Phileas, Cross fountain pens and Sheaffer School pens. I like medium point, wet writing nibs for that -- line thickness is not an issue. When I practice flourishes THEN I want thick/thin lines so I use dip pens.
I like your artwork stevlight.

Yep just don't have anything scanned in. Take a search for Splicer as he put up a real neat pen & ink of pen & ink

I have a Lamy Vista with an EF nib that I use for doodling and sketching. I like the line quality of the Lamy EF nib, and it holds up well to being carried around in my pockets. I recently bought a Sailor brush pen for using with the Lamy. It's been fun so far, but I haven't had a chance to get really into it yet.

Drawn with a Nakaya elastic SEF plus I can't remember what else:

I think this is the Omas Arco Milord (xxf full flex):

Sailor Cross Emperor Music + a fine-nibbed pen I can't remember:

Spors (glass-nibbed fountain pen):

Leigh R--Great stuff--thanks I use the dip pens but enjoy the FP's alot more!
rcannonp--Can you fill the sailor brush pen from a bottle?or only cartridges? I have been thinking of buying one. I have a pentel water brush I fill with ink with a eyedropper.

Thanks, jbb & stevlight!

I draw with dip pens too, but it does get tedious after a while.

The Sailor brush pen will take cartridges or a sailor converter. I didn't do a whole lot of research on it, but it was the only one that I saw that would take a converter.

rcannonp- That is great! I have been wanting a brush pen I could fill from a bottle--I hate having/buying different cartridges for all my different pens. Thanks for the info.

The Sailor brush pen is great. I got mine the other day and my wife loves it. Doesn't look like I'll see it for a while.

I'll just have to get my own. It works great on a Moleskine watercolor journal. The sailor cartridges look pretty unique though, almost like the pilot cartridges. I'll have to get the converter.
