One of my piano students want to purchase a used Waterman Laureat rollerball from me. It's about 15 years old. The color is what's now called red shadow -- red with a kind of marbleized black pattern, with gold trim. The pen is in very good condition, its main defect being some scratches in the black plastic barrel cap. Although I've done research online, I'm still not certain how to evaluate the pen. I want to offer it to my student at a fair price. Can you guys please help me out?

Many thanks.

Probably your best bet is to look at Ebay and see what prices similar pens have achieved. If you go into Advanced Search there is a box you can tick 'Show completed listings only'

My guess that a fair price would be $10-15 [a brand new one sold for $25 recently on bay]

Thank you very much. Indeed, new ones are going for $25 and up (and up...). There's actually quite the spread on prices -- $25 to over $70! Your suggestion is fair for all concerned.

Happy Writing Always,
