How much is too much for a desk set with the box?

I don't know the answer, but would think it depends on how important the box is. If you are selling it again or collecting, adds cache. If you are using it, then box seems extra. Maybe others have differing opinions. I would think the quality of the pen and holder matter most.
I'm curious to hear an expert answer.

I just want the box because I like the ephrema aspect. I suppose it isn't completely necessary. I guess I should rephrase my question and ask what a run of the mill eightball set runs for.

Cathy,

There doesn't seem to be a "price" for the 8-Ball set. By 8-Ball it is black with a black pen. The price tends to float around and I've seen them as low as 9.99 with no bids and seen them go toward 100 if the box is there. Some of the harder to find colors will bring a higher price, sometimes an unexplained higher price.

Unless it is a color I don't have, I don't usually show any interest. If I had one with a pen restored that I wanted to sell, I guess I'd ask around $45.

I do grab the desk pens when the price is right and often they can be found for next to nothing.

I have the Double-8 if you will on my desk at work for people that want to borrow a pen...

Thanks Todd. I just didn't want to over pay for it. I need that extra dough for more nibs! thumbup.gif

Yay! I won! I won! Glee!

And you got it for $25 - that seems like a fair price. You may have to replace the sac when you get it - or maybe not!

If so, I am ready to do that now. Just need to get the stuff.

Well, I just won two eight ball desk sets by "mistake," one for $15 and the other (with box) for $35.00 (I guess the two even out in the end).
I don't care about the box but liked the nib (9668).
When I get it I may just ask if someone else would like the box....but that is for classifieds later....I'll send vwbeetlebug a note then first! wink.gif
So I guess I'll have one for the home office and one for the work office.
I wanted to have something for those moments you keep having to write something quick without having to unscrew my little lovelies....

Hey! I was bidding on the one in the box! Small world.

Especially on the Estie forum! wink.gif
I think you bid me almost past my limit! If the box looks like it won't get much love from me, I'll PM you....

Mars

Thanks. I just like the nostalgic aspect.

Yay! I got my desk set today. All I had to do with flush the pen, tweak the nib (it was just a hair misaligned) and fill it with ink. Writes wonderfully!
