This color is WEIRD. This color is WONDERFUL. The scans don't really show it in all its glory -- you need to see it in person, especially under sunlight.

I have a bottle on backorder. I hope it's not being reformulated.

I compared the original paper copy of these, and I have to admit that these scans are awful. I don't have the time to color-correct (is it even possible with this ink?!!), but the Tolstoy-Goldfinch should be an electric reddish-orangejuice color. The tolstoy should be redder and more eye-popping everywhere, almost pink. The first Ecridor sample should be muddier, browner. Oh well, I'm sorry. I'll leave the scans up just for the heck of it. They're not TOO off, but please take caution -- they are inaccurate (of course, it could be my monitor).

Matt, on my monitor they look like I would have expected--a coral salmon shade. In the 2nd scan (Lamy pen), the Goldfinch mix does have the "electric orange juice" look. Please use this in the next journal! smile.gif

I love your ink scans!

I love that "Commie Pigs From Hell" mix (even though that isn't what you're going to call it after all)! Preeeeetty.

Thanks for your review! I just got the 12 Russian Eternal colors and try them one by one...

The color of the Tolstoy is interesting; I would descibe it as "neon-lobster". So far I tried it only in a Montblanc Bohème Big Size with a medium nib and it wrote pretty dry and skipped badly. So the writing sample looked like I wrote with a dried out thinn highlighter sad.gif

I need to give it a try in a different pen.

The chemical scent reminds me somewhat of organic solvents (???) but I don't believe that such solvents are used in fountain pen inks! ?!

Well, if you think of the writer the ink was named for I would say weird and wonderful are apt descriptions! Love the ink...may have to get some !
Melnicki
zquilts -- i've actually never read any Tolstoy. Is one of his works at the top of the list for you? Or is there anything short that might be a good introduction?
