Does anyone know if the Pelikan M625 has rhodium coating over the sterling silver. I recently acquired one and was wondering if the surface will stay as it is, or if it will tarnish over time.

Thanks for your help!

I have a 425 and the silver does not tarnish. Dont know how it is protected, though.

I have the 625. I was dissappointed to note that the silver doesn't tarnish (I'm the only person on earth who likes tarnished silver). Nothing in the literature mentions a rhodium plate, but something helps protect the luster.

Hmm I was wondering the same thing, the finish doesn't seem to scratch or tarnish. I like that, just don't know what they did to accomplish it!?

You are not the only one. What ever it is that they put on silver to keep it from tarnishing makes it look like something else.. not silver and not attractive, IMHO.

Not that I like tarnished silver but I like silver to have some depth and character to it.

How about the M730 and M750 pens? Both pens are special edition pens issued quite long time ago. Are they coated with rhodium plate on top of the silver sterling?

Thanks for the replies. The cap does not appear to have that white undertone which is characteristic of sterling. It is more of a very reflective rhodium finish. I personally prefer this since tarnished silver is annoying.
