Full Version: How does an Exception Compare to an Edson?

I bought a second-hand Exception Night and Day on this forum, along with another pen. Lightly scratched, I put it to work as a daily writer, and it is now one of my favorite working pens.

Here is my question: for those of you who have tried both, how does the Exception compare to the Edson in terms of nib quality, flow, balance, etc.? Any other Watermans, other than other Exceptions of course, which write and feel similar?

I have both pens and I'll tell you what I think the Exception is a marginally better writer! I still really like the Edson as I have two, best way to compare an Edson is to a Carene. Both have rigid nibs but the Edson is a bigger pen, if you like the way a Carene writes then I bet you would like the Edson.

i also have both, i think you cannot compare these 2 with eachother. I like the rigid nib of the edson..it writes very smooth, but also totally different then the D&N. These 2 are too different to compare in my eyes..both excellent writers i have to say

Thanks. I guess I am going to have to try the Edson somehow before laying down the fat coin it requires.

Get your hands on an Edson then decide. Think I know what your choice will be!

The Exception is different from the Edson; it's like comparing apples to oranges. Both pens are very nice, but the Exception is much more like the Man 100.
