I thought I'd post this email I got from Mont Blanc in case anyone besides me was wondering about the two editions of the rose scented love letter ink. I asked Mont Blanc if the 2005 edition (which has the words "Je t'aime" on the bottle) and the 2008 edition (which has the words "love you" on the bottle) were the same formulation, despite being made in different countries. Here is the reply I got:

"Yes, the formulation is the same, the only difference is where they are actually being manufactured.

You may see this on some of our other products as well - some of the precious metals we use are made in other countries, like France, and then you would see "France" instead of "Germany" somewhere on the pen. The same applies with leather, as some components of our leather are made in Italy.

Even though they are manufactured in different countries, all the pieces come together for final assembly at our headquarters in Hamburg.

I think the reason we still have the 2005 packaging for one and not the other is because for a while, we stopped offering the Love Letter ink, but it was popular and was brought back. Even though the ink itself is not that old (meaning that regardless of the 2005 packaging you would still be receiving fresh ink) one is packaged one place and another is packaged another place and the since the packaging is so similar, it hasn't been changed."

So there it is, even if your ink comes in 2005 packaging, it's the 2008 ink. and both inks are said to be the same anyway.

I think they're giving you a line. Someone posted scans and comparisons of the two inks and they are clearly different colors... and the reviewer also said they were scented differently. The older ink has more of a ruby tone to it, while the new ink has a pinkish tone.
