I'm planning to attend again this year. In my limited experience, it is a great show. Lots of great people, pens and I plan on doing onsite repairs.

Anyone else going?

2008 Dallas Pen Show, October 3-4, Sheraton Dallas North

I am definitely planning on being there. If any of the organizers read this and need another volunteer to help out, please PM me.

Looking forward to it

Danny,

See you there again this year. I have a pen or two I need you to work on for me. I will actually be exhibiting this year, so I hope it doesn't cut into my shopping and drooling too much. rolleyes.gif

OK, Danny and Donnie and Pjake, see you there (again). My wife is away in Indy, so this year I don't have to sneak my finds into the house! thumbup.gif

Gee, and the State Fair is on at the same time! Maybe this is the year I buy the lathe ... hmm1.gif (she will probably notice that, though).

I've never been to a pen show, and am looking forward to going to this one.

This will be my very first Pen Show, and I am thrilled to bits. Finally....I find out what they are all about. I've been saving up too. smile.gif
We just "got over " Gustav, and welcome the fun and excitement,

Whoo Hooo!! I am so ready for Dallas I can't stand the wait!!! I've got a good batch of pens including some very nice RB, MP and BPs and some really sweet desk pens ready to sell! I plan on being there Thursday afternoon for the pre-show eating, yakking and trading!! Don't forget to put your FPN nickname on your name tag so we can meet each other and get to know people and faces.

O.k., this thread rates a bump.

Bump-bump-bump

Reserved my room and can’t wait for the first weekend in October! bunny01.gif

This will be my third Dallas Pen Show. I miss the low room rates for the show at the Holiday Inn Select in Richardson, but the event had grown to the point that the only space left for vendors was out in the parking lot. A very cool thing.

Thousands of vintage pens, hundreds of new ones. Throw in FREE admission – if you're a FP nutter, where else would you want to be that weekend?

Oh, and the State Fair is in town. Exhibits. New car show. Foot-long corn doooooooogs. Mercy thumbup.gif !
ethernautrix
Drat. I'm going to be a week late and a coupla hundred miles short (if I were going to drive to Paris that weekend, I'd definitely attend the pen show in Dallas. Alas.).

Guess I have to wait for the Los Angeles pen show, even though that's a few hundred miles from where I usually am. (I have not been to a pen show... yet.)

Y'all have fun!
blakeums21
YAY, I cant wait for the 3rd, and good idea with the FPN name on the name tags. It will be nice to be able to put a face with some of these names

After being out of town the last two years, I'll be at my home town show this year.

I'm helping man the Pen Collectors of America table, stop by and say hello (and sign up if you aren't already a member!)

A lot of the collectors who bring pens to sell only want/can only take cash. Businesses (Dromgooles, Pendemonium, etc.) can take plastic. The first year I went, I only took plastic, and had to lose out on a couple of pens I really wanted (couldn't get to an ATM and back fast enough before they were gone crybaby.gif ). The last couple of years, I've brought along enough cash to cover anything I might reasonably want (yeah, right, reasonably lticaptd.gif ) and plastic for the stuff I know I'm going to have to sneak into the house. thumbup.gif

Frank and I are looking forward to our annual trip to the Dallas Pen Show. I've been tucking aside some cool old pen stuff, new pen stuff and some just plain strange pen stuff! If there is anything special that someone wants us to bring along to Dallas, just drop me an email. If it's in stock, we'll pack it for the trip! sam@pendemonium.com

See ya'll in Dallas!

I can't wait! This will be my first pen show. I'm interested in looking at Bexley fountain pens. Anybody know if I'll have luck finding this brand at the show, either new or used?

I will have one Bexley Fun Time, new, in box, uninked, with Fine nib. I got it from eBay, and it looked red, but it is pink. I get enough abuse for using fps, don't need the abuse for using a pink one. I do not remember if Dromgooles carries Bexley.

Go-Pens is one of the vendors, and they do carry Bexley according to their web site.
The Write Pen
I have been getting pens ready for the show for several evenings and still have some yet to restore and polish. I plan on having pens for just about everyone's budget. From 3rd and 4th teirs prices almost at restoration only prices and some lovely Watermans, a 94 Olive Ripple with a sweet flex nib, a Red Ripple 56 with a broad nib, and more, Parker Vacumatics of most colors and models, desk pens and bases, Sheaffers, a Swan or two and too many others to mention. Plus lots of pens for show and tell. My buddy Perry will assist you with your purchase needs. I plan to bring my portable restoration station be ready to restore your pens beginning on the Thursday night before the shwo through Saturday when the show closes.

Hope to see you all there.

Dromgoole's does indeed carry Bexley. Larry sold me a Poseidon with a very sweet Stub nib earlier this year.

You may want to call them before hand and ask them if they would bring along the model(s) that interest you.

No affiliation, just a very satisfied repeat customer.

I am toying with the idea of going there - will there be Japanese pen sellers? Maki-e? Urishi? If it's all vintage Parkers etc, then that's not my scene...
donwinn
I do not have a complete vendor list, but last year there were vendors carrying several modern (new) pens. The US Sailor importer was here last year, but not selling; she referred interested folks to a vendor who was exhibiting. Laban and Taccia both had a table, but they do not do urushi or maki e, to my knowledge. At a minimum, Dromgooles of Houston, and GoPens will be there, both of whom carry extensive lines of contemporary pens. Doubtless Retro 51 will be there, as they are based here locally. Come on out/down/up (don't know where you are located) and have a good time with a large crowd of fellow pen fans (you do know that fan is short for fanatic, right?). Hope to see you this weekend!

Donnie
The Write Pen

Does anyone know if Mr Mottishaw will be there with Nakayas? If so, I'm doing to drive up...

Edit: That's Classic Pens, right? So Yes?

used to be. It was called off not long after I found the pen community. Houston had a bad year (TS Allison I think, or the flood that came that same month and made things worse) and since then, nothin'.

Still makes me angry.

Don't be angry! Get in the car and come to the Dallas show (if you've got everything put back together after Ike). smile.gif

Mottishaw is Classic Fountain Pens. Classic Pens seems to be a different outfit. There's nothing on Mottishaw's site to suggest they will be in Dallas. Danny Fudge will have to confirm or deny. You might drop him a PM.

Can't. Kids are coming to visit this weekend. Not that I can justify the money right now anyway. We're fine here despite Ike. We'll even be able to take the kids to a couple of our favorite restaurants. But not the Boardwalk. (whimper) crybaby.gif

Anyway - the kids are more fun than a pen show. (I know, blasphemy) But really they are. We have a great time and spend pen money on food for four x 2 days. tongue.gif

Just got off the phone with John M - very nice guy! Unfortunately he won't be there... I was looking forward to feeling a Nakaya in my hand before I chuck money in that direction... Oh well... maybe next time...

My wife and I are going. Spending the night at the hotel and the next day checking out the show. Last time we went we left for home with a couple of new pens. Maybe that will happen again this year.

Whoo Hooo !!!! Loading the car and heading to Dallas. Look for me at the Write Pen tables with Dan Fudge!!

Then come on down!! Last year Sailor was there with Maki-e and Urishi pens. Lots of modern pen sellers will be there this year, along with the vintage nuts!!

If anyone is looking for some super desk pens I will have Parker 51's, a 45, 4 Sheaffers, a beautiful no name and a marbled Conklin Endura that is to die for!

We will have several nice 51's to sell and some special vacs that will knock your eyes out!

Plus for the first time a great assortment of medium to higher end Roller, Ball Point and Mechanical Pencils. Looking for a jotter? a Forest Green MP Parker VS to match your pen? Will have dip pens with a great variety of nibs including some brush nibs in 1/2, 3/4 and 1" sizes.

If you are not coming to the show you will miss a load of fun!!!!

My name tag will have pakmanpony on it so you can find me, come by and say "Hi I'm From FPN!!"
The Write Pen
Well the Dallas Show has come and gone. Not so much gone for me, I brought some restoration work home and some sweet combos a Chris Thompson Duofold and a Parker 51 inner cap removal tool from Stuart. I have been working on the repairs and have taken most every dent out of my 51 caps. Almost ready to do this for the public.

Thanks North Texas club for a great show. Hope to be there in 2009!
