How can I know the number that is correct for the pen.

I have a Sheaffer touchdown pen(barrel and cap gols plated)

A Esterbrook 1950īs lever pen(that nib its interchangable)

And a Parker 51 full size. This pen donīt use the rubber sac, what itīs the name for this sac(that looks like original)

You might search the Repair Forum for answers. You might also consult the Pen Sac Company's Catalog for info as well: http://www.pensacs.com/New%20Pages/catalog.html

Finally it is almost certain that the Esterbrook takes a #16 sac.

The numbers are really dimensions in 64ths of an inch, so a 16 is really 16/64 = 1/4" in diameter. If in a bind, you can measure the nipple, then go to the next smaller size sac to ensure a snug fit. This will miss the unusual fits where the sac was made larger with a necked down area to fit over the nipple, but it will still work.

Not sure if one can get the pliglas sacs used in the 51 anymore. Some people use the silicone sacs rather than the latex ones in that application. Check through old posts in Repair and the Parker forums for other advice.

Yes I mesured the sac and itīs #16 or 1/4"

Another question. I pulled out the J bar. how I determine the lenght of the Esterbrook J bar. I must include dimension of the hook???

Thanks

The 54 mm one usually works for an Estie. I believe the measurement is made regarding the overall length without going around the hook. That is the physical length the J would take from the bottom of the J to the top.

And you can rebend the hook to alter that dimension if needed.
