I will be staying in Boston for a year and I definitely need to buy ink, given that I have only 5 cartridges with me.
I would like to know where I can get ink, esp. Noodlers.
I have heard that the Bromfield Pen Shop is a nice place to go but their webpage hasn't been updated for two years, are they still there?

Sadly, Boston is no longer a pen town.
Bromfield, Boston = Rude people, over-priced pens, highly recommend not going there.
Paradise Pens, Burlington = Rude people, over-priced pens, highly recommend not going there.
Bob Slate Stationers, Cambridge = very limited selection and knowledge.
Quill & Press, Acton = Very nice people, limited and over-priced selection, but ... maybe worth the ride
Crane Stationery, Boston = Nice people, and over-priced selection.
Montblanc, Boston & Chestnut Hill = Well ... you either love'm or hate'm
Levenger's, Boston = Best Of Boston, real customer satisfaction, but Levenger's only pens.
Cross, Boston, Chestbut Hill, Natick = Meza-meza, Cross only.
Go to NY ... Fountain Pen Hospital, or Art Brown.
My current fav is World Lux = Great people, lots of knowledge, great selection, comparable prices.

order online. That's what I do.
I went to Bob Slate recently. They didn't seem to have much of an ink or FP selection. Lots of notebooks though. I also pop in to Paradise Pen Co. every couple of weeks. There are a couple nice people there and a couple of rude people. They don't carry Noodler's and their prices on pens is MSRP, so don't bother.
Like I said. Order online.

Bromfield is the only one I can speak for. They have a very good selection of ink, but I wasn't interested in any pens, so I didn't really deal with the salespeople or look at any prices. I hear that the website is not representative of what is in-store, so I think you'd have to go to check it out. Good luck.

That's very disappointing to hear. When I lived in Boston 9 years ago I used to go with some frequency. They were always helpful to me.

Bromfield's staff are pretty nice to me, but then I have been shopping there since I came to Boston in 1992, so they're used to me. They have a good selection of inks, lots of Noodler's, Private Reserve, and the other standards, i.e., Waterman, Pelikan, Sheaffer, MB, etc. They also carry Stipula and Omas inks which are a bit hard to find elsewhere. No Diamine, alas.

Bromfield Pen is 5 Bromfield Street in the Downtown Crossing District. Bob Slate Stationer's has three locations in Cambridge, two of them in Harvard and one in the Porter Square area. The larger store in Harvard Square is at 1288 Mass. Ave. The one in Porter Square is 1975 Mass. Ave. The smaller one in Harvard Square is on Church Street. I go there a lot, but I don't know the exact address offhand.
