Hi,
I am a new member from Spain. I live in Madrid. My name is José Grau. Thank you very much to all of you from the FPN. With your comments I am learning a lot. Please, excuse me for my English. I will try to express myself right, but it is quite difficult, especially in this field of fountain pens.
I like very much fountain pens and I have been used them since I was very young. In the last time I bought a Pelikan M 205, a Pilot 78B and a Lamy Vista. I already had a Montblanc Meiterstück (it was a gift), a Pelikan M800 and a Parker 51. I inherited this last one from my father. I had also a Pelikan 200, fine nix flex by Richard Binder, and I am very happy with it.
After my introduction, perhaps someone can help me now. I have bought a Pelikan M 205 demonstrator, OM steel nib, by missingpen (Germany), and also a Pilot 78B, italic nib.
I thought the OM nib of the Pelikan would be more o less the same as the italic nib. But in fact it is not. I can write well italic with my 78 B, but I am not happy with the OM nib of the Pelikan, it even skips when I draw, for instance, the “e” , as it should be drawn according to the italic calligraphy.
Can you tell me if this is normal?
Thank you,
José

Hello and welcome to FPN. There are lots of experienced people here (unfortunately, I am not one of them,) and someone will be along soon to answer your questions.

Saludos!

Hi there and welcome here!
Take your pen to a Pelikan dealer and say that you want to exchange the nib, or drop a note to Richard Binder (here on the site too) and he'll let you know everything!

Hola Pepe.
Vaya colección....de ponerse verde.
The skipping you mention is not normal, I believe. Maybe needs some tweaking. try to post same question at the Pelikan forum, may be useful.
Welcome aboard!

Doesn't the O in OM mean Oblique?
If so, I wonder if it is possible that Pepe is trying to write 'normally' with an oblique nib, which needs to be rotated slightly .... usually anticlockwise for a right-hander.... in order to make proper contact with the paper?
Bienvenidos, Pepe....my Spanish is not as good as your English!
Are you going to the Valencia Pen Show? (19-21 Sept)...probably not...it's quite a way from Madrid.
(The Madrid Pen Show is 21-23 Nov)

Bienvenido Pepe !!!!
Nice collection you´ve got, I´ve got an old Pelikan 400 with a nib marked OM and works fine to me, and is an oblique medium.
