Ok, so I have a weird-ish question, and I figured there was no better place for it that the FPN, haha.

So, the hooded nib design of the 51 is really cool for a lot of reasons, but I can't decide if it will negate or highlight the problem of nib creep. That is to say, with a creepy ink, will the 51's hooded nib make creeping less or more of a problem?

On the one hand, I can see it making nib creep not a problem, since almost the whole nib is covered. This makes me think that even if the nib creeps, it's no big deal.

On the other hand, I'm worried that the hood with reduce surface tension even more, resulting in an even creepier nib.

So which is it?

Thanks,

Adam

The nib of a "51" is covered with ink, both sides, all the time except for the tiny bit that sticks out, and that often has some ink on it too. That is, after all, the point of the hood -- to hold ink on top of the nib as well as under it.

You may get some color along the sides of the nib with Luxury Blue or some other ink that coats things a lot, but otherwise nib creep in a "51" is invisible.

That's one of the things I love about my 51, you do not see the creepies! I have not noticed any problem with a "wet nib" on mine.
