I forgot that there were ink cartridges in my Sapporo box. I popped one in and I really like it. Thing is, I can't tell if it's blue, or blue black. No markings on the cart or on the wrapper.
Anyone? I want to buy more, but want to make sure I get the right thing.
PS - viewing the ink review scans of Blue versus Blue-Black didn't help. Sometimes it looked like blue, then blue-black. It was inconclusive for me.

It's black but has a bluish undertone.

Hi,
On mine, it say blue black in Japanese.
The Sailor Blue-black is a really nice color. Best of all, you can buy it in bottles.

Much appreciated. I thought it might have been blue-black. It's a great color and the ink seems to have nice flow. Of course it bled in my Moleskine, but then again, what doesn't.

I think I might buy some....

Ja, I think it's Blue-Black. Very nice ink, with the purplish tones that many post-ferrogallic vintage BBs have, rather than the dark blue/green look of many modern BBs. Recently bought a Sailor 1911 from a user here, and so sure that it would be my thing, used one of the carts that came with the pen; not to my liking, sold it to another FPN user, but I kept the popped cart. Liked the ink so much that I put it into my 78g via syringe.

Thanks John - I was going to go over to PTP so I could grab some samples at the same time.

The color may be up to each dealer. My Morita Mini came with blue-black, and Sapporo and Pro Gear came with black ones.
When I bought a Pilot pen from Itoya they asked me which color cartridge I wanted.

This thread prompted me to pop in a cartridge that came with my Sapporo. I very much like the ink as well. I previously had Platinum Blue-Black in it, and the pen seemed lackluster to me, and the ink was grey, not the blue color that is depicted in reviews. The Sailor Blue-Black is great though, just the color that I would expect. It has made my Sapporo into a much better writer too.

Update - James sent me a sample of the Sailor Blue Black. It's a nice color, (but boy does this ink stink!) but it's not the color that was in the cartridge. It had to have been Sailor Blue.

Stinks as in... it smells? I'm looking for a new BB, and was thinking about Sailor Jentle...

Yes, smells. I guess all inks have at least a little scent, but sheesh. It reminds me of the smell of the Diamine Registar's Blue.
I don't know if it's just the BB or all of their inks. It flows so nice, I am willing to overlook the smell because I want a bottle of the blue.
You could always try a sample from Pear Tree Pens.
