Full Version: Pilot Decimo/Sesenta

According to Carmen Rivera's site, the Sesenta was released in 2007 with 400 brown, 100 red and 100 blue pens.

Although the pens aren't numbered, these are pretty rare as far as a Vanishing point type pen is concerned. The equivalents are the Japan Turquoise and Orange pens released in 2005 which are basically impossible to come by. So what surprises me is the relative ease by which I have been able to get all three pens. Right now, the red, blue and brown are all available on eBay from Soundboy (which incidentally is where I got my three:)).

One can't help wondering, are they really that limited? Is the data out there about there only being a total of 600 of these pens somewhat incorrect? Or are these just not interesting pens for most people? I look at the 1500 Mandarin Yellow VPs released in the US and the prices these are fetching now and think that at the very least, there would be incredible investments!!

I don't really know if they made more than the number. I've always felt that VP's are not as popular in Japan. I have one of the first orange LE. It was a few months after it came out when I inquired availability, but the dealer had many of them left. I've read in Japanese web sites that some people have bought the first orange ones as recent as this spring. I don't think Sesenta wasn't that popular in Japan, either. A Japanese online store sold out blue and red they had, but they still have gray marble.
Siv
Well the red sold for $435 and the blue for $455!!!!!

AND soundboy has another red and blue up for sale already!!!

I picked up all three from the same seller at a slightly higher price but nowhere near the $450's that the pens went for recently. roflmho.gif

I'm awaiting them now.

I wonder how many the seller actaully has since he is still listing them.

BTW- Siv, I see you are from Houston too- Hope you fared well from Ike. We got our power back Sunday...

That seems to be a suspiciously low number... I have to wonder if a '0' is missing on those production numbers.

It may be that the production numbers are low but then again Regina Martini recently had 5 or 6 2007 LE Orange and also 5 LE Ice Blue up for sale so it may just be that they are not as popular in Japan as outside! I don't know who Soundboy is but maybe he has the inside track on these pens... or he could have just got lucky and bought 5 or each in a store! He has been putting his starting price up so I don't think the supply is infinite.

Ike treated us well - just a few fallen leaves and about 12 hours without power. And my office is still closed so it has been a very long weekend!

Glad to hear Ike was kind to you.

Do you have Regina's ID? I'm still looking to get an Orange LE.

Check her auction site - she had one for sale starting at $275.

I would ask about the nib though - it's listed with a 'B' and I thought the LEs only came with a medium. Although as she's a European seller she has access to spare Rh plated nibs so can probably swap it out if you ask (I did).
