stainless. The 140 had the gold nib.

same range in what respect? size? price? quality?

size: slightly smaller, though the section is about the same
price: much less expensive, even now.
quality: about the same as the M200 depending on your POV. I find them a little cheaper feeling. The nibs can be nice and springy/semi-flex though.

According to listings on ebay, there was a 120 made in the 50's and 60's that may have had a gold nib but the the ones made in the 70's and 80's had a gold plated steel nib. They were very similar in appearance but the nibs were not interchangeable.

I still have my Pelikan 120 from the 70's. Gold plated steel italic - VERY smooth. Writes perfectly .. and I thought thought it feels a tad heavier than the new 200's......

Oh yes, I have three 120's from the 70's with 7 steel nibs of different sizes and they are among my favorite writers. I used one today to do some calligraphy for a friend's co-worker who is retiring.

Nibs for 120 are interchangeable right ?

Hello,

as it posted before the original nib from the Pelikan 120 is the gold-plated
steel nib. If you find 14 carat gold nib at this pen, they would changed by user.

The pens from 1955/1965 would be produced by Pelikan directly, the pens
from the 1970's would produced by Merz & Krell also with steel nibs.

Nibs are interchangeable like all nibs at the models 140, 400 etc. They have
a screw in nib unit.

Best regards

Yup, the Pelikan 120 came stock with a gold plated steel nib. They're nice nibs- really stiff, but very smooth. I put one in my Pelikan 140, which I use as a quick note jotting pen. Now, if only I had a B steel nib with that lovely stubishness! smile.gif
