So you may or may not know I just got one of my prized pens that I have been after for a long time, and I am sooooooooooo happy with it. But I truly think I have a problem. And not like a happy fun collecting pens problem... No, full blown addiction! Here is why...
I have a few friends that I have been slowly converting to fountain pen "peeps". At first they were all about Montblancs, which is fine because I love Montblancs. But they wanted them because they didn't know any better, not because they write great or make really cool writers editions and such. Well they all jumped on board with the Chatterley Pen, and after that, all three have been all about them. Two of them more, but all are starting to dig FPs, and understand now how much a nice writing instrument can change how write, or want to write. No complaints right? (Dont worry there is point to long story, so bear with me) So even before the Chatterley one of my friends had a few nice roller balls (Omas Paragon, waterman and such) Well tonight, we had a soirée for my 30th and he showed up a familiar sight in his top pocket. He dived in and bought a Delta Inuit! He got a great deal on it from Colorado pens, and he is really happy with. So its really cool that he getting Fps and not really testing the waters, but diving right in with an LE pen. No problem right. The problem is not him... The main problem is that I havent even had the Marostica for a day and Im already Drooling over his new one. drool.gif This cant me normal... Even for pen people like us...
Man I have issues... I guess it better than a lot of other bad habits:headsmack: right?

Anyway, congrats to my new full blown pen pal, Im sure he will be joining here soon roflmho.gif

It's normal. If you feed your desires more desires will come. Too bad we can write only with one fountain pen at the same time. It would be nice if we could change that. happyberet.gif

...I'm afraid temptation comes in all shapes and sizes....especially fountain pens rolleyes.gif . Once you've found your dream pen....you are on the look out if anything else comes close..or could give you the same amount of 'bang' for your buck.....

...I suppose it's the same as travelling....you will have a favourite destination....but you will look at other spots around the world that could provide an enriching experience in a different way...( or am I getting too philosophical ? )....

...by the way...thank you very much for that 'Montegrappa Marostica' review....I felt as though it was a 'virtual and lucid tasting of a fine wine'..... thumbup.gif

We are very close in our love to pens even though you are 100% a use and I am more of a 30% user.
The thing that turns us on more then the pens themselvs is the hunt for them, the supense, the reasech, looking for them, bidding on them, waiting for them to show up in mail...etc

Once we get the pens some of the magic is gone and off we go for the next hunt...arrrr I mean next pen.

Of course we enjoy the pens too but the hunt is what turn us on the most.

Indeed, the desire for more and more fountain pens can be unfairly powerful. I only got into this hobby exactly one week ago, yet I've already scoped out another 5 that would make a good addition. And this, on top of my other hobbies, plus a rather sizable debt (around.... 480 dollars or so) that I'd gotten myself into, and you have a recipe for financial ruin.

Edit: I kinda agree with goodguy - sometimes, the fun in getting a pen is not in using them, but in actually finding, saving, waiting, and finally, buying that one rare vintage pen you've had your eyes on for so long. Thankfully, I don't think I've gotten to that point yet, and I seriously don't want to.
