Hello all:
I am preparing to take a Lamy 27 apart. I was wondering if the section screws onto the barrel or is it a fricton fit? Is there anyone out there in penland that has taken one of therse Lamy 27 apart?
RevAaron
The Lamy 27 is built exactly like the 2000. Rather, the other way around. The section screws out, and the nib/feed/collector unit can be pushed out from the nib side of things- again, just like on the 2000. I've never had a reason to remove the piston from any old Lamy or Artus pens, they all still
work like new, even after 60 years in some cases. I believe the piston is friction fit, but I'm not entirely sure.

I've never run into a 27 or 27-based pen whose section didn't unscrew fairly easily- never had to use section pliers or anything like that. I have had to do some ammonia cleaning to get the nib unit out, though.

MYU has a lot of experience with Lamy 27s as well, and a few other people. They're a really great pen to "restore," because other than nib cleaning and adjustment they usually just work.

Thank you for your help. I now have the section out of the barrel. The end of the thread part of the barrel is a bit rough is this normal?
RevAaron
Rough in what way? I've seen 27-style pens with the threaded part of the barrel having parts broken off, etc, but I'm not sure if that's what you mean by rough. I'll take apart a 27 and take a few photos for you tomorrow.

The pen works lovely and writes like a dream. The top of the threaded part just isn't smooth like I thought it would be. I would be interested to see your pictures as I have not seen another Lamy 27. Thanks
